SHameless was released in a digipack.

I always thought it was only available in the jewel case I had untill I saw it in a digipack in HMV one day.

Teethgrinder, Nowhere (4 track version), Trigger Inside, Die Laughing (digipack had ‘laughing’ chip), Shameless.
So Much for the Ten Year Plan was released in jewel case (single disk version) and digipack (2 disk version).
Loose & Lonely Cryin Only were released as cd1 in jewel case and cd2 in digipack.

I can’t think of any others right now.

Whay re they called DIGI pack ? Digit implies digital - implies futuristic - but theres nowt futuristic about packaging albums in cardboard - which gets tatty after about a week.

soul doubt: you mean the velvet cover/double cd digipacks or a digipack version of the actual single?

I think it’s cos the accountants can watch the “digits” rack up in their bank when they charge the same for a piece of cardboard as for a proper case.

Cardboard sleeves look great the day you buy them but if you actually go to the trouble of listening to your CDs once in a while they soon get racked off.

Jewel cases all the way baby.. (and don’t start, you vinyl junkies out there - we had the same problem with them tatty old LP sleeves back in the day. AND I never managed to get the Cadbury’s Creme Egg stain off the front of my copy of The Jam - The Gift :( )

@ trigger: yep, there’s 3 different digipack version, the velvet one, the double cd digipack, but also a digipack version of the one that came in the jewelcase.

There’s something to be said for going to the shop on day of release - seeing them all lined up - picking one up and going to pay for it - taking it home and listening to it on a stereo ( not a computer ) and reading the lyric book :)

I guess he means a gramophone, an old-fashioned record player. Remember the days when music was released on black discs made of vinyl and not as mp3 ringtones? ;-)

:p it was the world’s first ever recording device - basically a cylinder of wax that you rotate and there is a cone with a needle on it, making grooves in the wax as you speak. So when you play it back, it reads the grooves it just made and repeats what you just said.

We’ve come a long way, baby.
