I’m a regular texter/song requester on Xfm South Wales and the DJs all kind of know who I am now. In some cases, I’ve got my own fanfare that they play whenever I text in. They even gave me my own half hour stint on there a few weeks ago.
Today I was listening to Stuart Cable’s show (ex-Stereophincs drummer) as I left work. As I was walking out, he said someone had requested a Therapy? song, but he didn’t think he could play it (even Xfm have playlists they have to adhere to). I text him straight away saying I’m a huge T? fan and even have a tattoo and that T? never get played anymore, so he said he’d try and get something on.
After a few songs he said “This is for the girl who text in earlier and for Phil in Swansea, who is a huge Therapy? fan and even has a Therapy? tattoo! Turn up loud, this is Screamager!”
After it finished he was saying what a great band they are and it turned out his producer/co-presenter is a huge fan too. He kep giving me shout outs too, which was cool.
