Yeah the Nick cave one is really good. The Portishead one is quite different, not the easiest of listens but the more i play the more i like… a bit of a different style in a way to the other albums but i guess its a bit more updated and electronic in parts.

Yeah - the early Wildhearts records kinda cemented him in my mind as some kinda musical genius - but he’s been well off the boil for a long time now… I dont know why I bothered.

Portishead - Third
It’s amazing. Beth Gibbons* singing is beautiful as always, but the music has changed: there are only two or three songs sounding like the “old” Portishead. There’s more 80s synthie stuff (reminds me sometimes even of Bowie’s Low) and We Carry On even has Joy Division guitars. There are also two country folk songs on it.
I love it.

Sorry to destroy your credibility, but that’s one of my favourite albums of all time! :)
On the other hand ‘Now Then’ was the biggest pile of shite I’ve ever paid for…

Which ones? Apparently Jake Burns acted like a complete wanker when my mate asked him for an autograph back in the day. Although I suspect there was more to that than his schooling :)

Warrior Soul - Space Age Playboys
Iggy & The Stooges - Raw Power
Spine of God - Monster Magnet - I’ve really got into this album again, usually when I grab a MM album off the shelves, I usually go for Powertrip or Dopes… but this is one is brilliant - Pill Shovel is just fucking fantastic…

I’ve been listening to the new Danko Jones album Never Too Loud a lot for the last couple of days. It took some time to grow on me, but I now find it nothing short of brilliant, especially Code Of The Road and Forest For The Trees.
I’ve also repeatedly been watching a YouTube video of Liam Finn playing Second Chance on the Letterman show, which is a truly electric performance.

Everyone says that Dopethrone was their best but I prefer Come My Fanatics and We Live…the new one is far and away the best IMO

I do prefer the new one to Dopethrone - although I like the really raw sound of Dopethrone - the only problem with that album is it has a really long 3rd track that kinda drags and breaks the pace of the album up.
Will have to get a hold of the other albums… (in time… after payday at least)
