Dexter season 2 is great - I still need to start downloading Lost… I was waiting for it to get close to the end so I can download them all at once.
I watched the Zeitgeist documentary last night - very interesting stuff…

The original series, ie, the one that followed the miniseries. And I still enjoy it. Mind you, I also enjoy watching Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers in the 25th century. imho, it has aged relatively well, certainly better than the A team or the Dukes of Hazzard.
It was the mini series I was hooked on, the TV series was weird but quite funny as I recall.
I know what you mean about the old Sci Fi - I loved Logan’s Run, wobbly sets and all! :D

alien 3
i saw sigourney’s name pop up in the opening credits and prayed that it would be aliens…imagine my disappointment
the sheer number of one liners in that film is incredible…here are some of may favourites;
hudson: hey vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?
vasquez: no. have you?
hudson: game over man… game over!
hudson: come on! come on! come and get it, baby! come on! let’s go, yeah, come on! come on! come on you bastard! come on, you too! oh, you want some of this? fuck you!
ripley: get away from her, you bitch!
and my favourite…
newt: we’d better get back, ‘cause it’ll be dark soon, and they mostly come at night… mostly.
they dont make them like they used too.

Other fun things about old scifi is the recycling of models and sets. A shuttle from Battlestar Galactica appearing in Buck Rogers, or the model and set from Silent Running popping up in Battlestar Galactica. Oddly enough all this stuff was released through Universal. But as far as wobbly sets and poor special effects are concerned, very little beats the original Star Trek and ancient Doctor Who.*

@Erik - True, the original Star Trek was ace. Every week they would be buried under some polystyrene rubble or trapped behind a balsa wood door, and they never even tried to disguise the fact. Those were the days! :D And as for the Dr Who ‘aliens’ … I bet there was many an aspiring young actor under those cyberman outfits, it’s quite sad really …
Do you remember the Tomorrow People? That was terrible too but I absolutely loved it :) I almost wish they’d put it back on, but I suspect it might be too embarrassing and cringeworthy for words.

What you have to remember mr butters is that when i was growing up almost EVERYTHING on telly was shit except for Monty Python’s Flying Circus. But then in my day we used to play out, not sit staring at the bloody telly all day like your generation :p In fact I remember when there wasn’t any telly in the daytime, it started about 4pm and that was fucking ‘Play School’! :D

@Erik & mrs h - if you’re talking wobbly sets, then you’ve forgetten one - Blake 7!! :-D
The Big Lebowski - I must be the only person I know who doesn’t love this film, but it just doesn’t do anything for me. I got more enjoyment from watching Two Days In The Valley!
I know it’s not really fashionable to talk about watching anime, but I’m liking the first series of Bleach & revisiting the Gungrave series - so I’m on my own as I thought.
