Cavalera Conspiracy

Started by Superunknown

Surprisingly, their debut isn’t all that bad.

“Hex” and “The Doom Of All Fires” rock. The latter reminds me of The Wildhearts for some reason. Don’t ask me why.

:D

Max Cavalera sat on a stool in a smoke-filled, dimly lit bar, beret oscuring his eyes, nodding silently as he noodles away at a Miles Davis number…

i could see Iggor doing a hour long bongo solo, while max skats… it was just a wasted opportunity to show their real love. All the tattoos and tough image doesn’t fool me, they have wanted to get out of metal for years, and just took the easy root again… scared slayer would tease them.

He could get Jonathan Davis from Korn to come in and adlib some beebop and maybe Chino from Deftones could drop in some ‘weather report’

See how much support and interest people have had if they would have one with there hearts, they are going to be kicking themselves if the album bombs. They could have lived the high life playing every Pizza Express that has a Jazz Cafe connected… instead Download with fucking Kiss, I hope they feel like cunts now!

And here it is. If you want to compare them, you’ll have to find your own video of the muppet, though.

Not at all, IMO. The riffs are heavier and more inspired and they finally dropped the tribe thing. It was good on “Roots”, but it has been lame ever since. And Max only seemed to played the low e string in dropped d tuning anymore.

Cavalera Conspiracy rocks harder and more thrashy than anything since “Chaos A.D.” Not a great record, but a satisfyingly solid return to form.

Me neither, but I think I’d recommend this one. Here’s the single (not the best song on the album, though)

ive been sceptical about max’s er… ‘talents’ for many years now.
Let me guess - he plays tuned down riffs with a very slight groove on (only) the first 3 frets of his guitar and goes “Whooooooaaaaarrrrggghhh!” in his throaty growl a lot?

it was over after Roots. Fact.

I’m listening to it now - it’s dogshit. This is the most cliched toss i’ve ever heard. it sounds like sepultura from 1992 and max has the worst voice, lyrics & phrasing in rock n roll EVER! No excuses, no regrets, everybody die tonight - FUCK OFF!!!

The thing is, it doesn’t sound like that at all, but if you’re saying that this is how everything by Max has sounded even before Soulfly then you just don’t like thrash metal.

Max sounding like Sepultura in 1992 again is a good thing to me, too (although I don’t think that’s a completely accurate desription of the Cavalera Conspiracy project).

Doesn’t sound like it, sounds like something that Sepultura could’ve done after Beneath the Remains.
