The Maiden history part 2 is already out, man. Though it’s not called that, it’s on the 2nd disk of the “Live After Death” dvd which came out a couple of months ago.

I recieved this yesturday, It’s good but not great. The documentary that is. The Live After Death show is fantastic but the history doc isn’t upto that much , would have liked if they had talked about Somewhere in Time and 7th Son aswell. Suppose that’ll be the next dvd.

It could be interesting lol mainly for what Steve Harris was thinking etc. I do like The X Factor quite alot i’d rate it more than the previous effort Fear Of The Dark and maybe No Prayer but that would be pushing it a bit , Virtual iX is probably the worst album but I can listen to it even though The Angel And The Gambler is one of the worst songs ever by any band.

As I recall, “The Early Years” chronicled the band all the way thorugh the Piece of Mind tour. The new one only covers Powerslave? Are we sure this isn’t just a companion extra on the Live After Death DVD, not the official follow up to “Early?” Cuz it’d really be a lot cooler if it was.

Yeah, the official line appears to be that this is indeed the “Early Years Part 2”, even though it’s a bit rubbish.

I think one of the problems is that the band has a huge backlog of stuff to get through - they have kind of stuffed it up a little though..
What I mean is, they promised last year that in 2008 they would finally get round to releasing Live After Death and Maiden England on DVD ,..and then added to that they have to continue on from Early Years Part 1…so do they do a separate Early Years Part 2? But no, cos that would mean a THIRD DVD set in the same year…and at the same time they have footage from the A Matter of Life and Death tour which they were going to release on DVD, or so they announced a while back. But then if they take too long over that then they will be behind with the NEXT “Early Years” installment (which is where it’ll start getting interesting when it gets to the Bruce out, Blaze in part) not to mention that by then we’ll be getting restless for the DVD of the current Somewhere Back In TIme tour…and so on and so forth!

Yeah, but no one’s forcing them to continue putting out DVDs. I also thought it was weird when they started “Early Days”, then released the “Death On The Road”-DVD. continuing the “History” series on the special features of the re-releases of the old live videos seems to make sense, but fans are bound to feel a bit snubbed. I do, anyway.

Oh you’re quite right that no-one’s forcing them to put the DVD’s out, this is true.
I think what they should have done was a complete history set of DVD’s in one go - mopping up all the odds and sods of footage they had found and covering the whole story to date. It could have all been covered perfectly well on three or four discs, which wouldn’t have been especially extravagant, I don’t think.

Bald Blaze Bayley update
One of our recent new members “Baldy Man!” messaged me recently to fill me in on the story behind the Blaze Bayley hair replacement ads (as featured in various rock magazines). Hairy Man! is the owner of Optima Hair Specialists and was amused by my comments (if you do a search on Google for Optima Hair/Blaze Bayley this thread’s on the first page) - apparently Blaze did the advert for nothing as OHS do a lot of work for kids with cancer… So fair play to Mr Bayley! :D
