Haveyou ever met a rock star and not even realised it?

Hi folks

Just joined - been a big T? fan for many years.

I met Joey Z from life of Agony when I was on my honeymoon in Hawaii 4 years ago - such a cool guy, he recognized my accent as he’d been playing at the garage in Glasgow about two weeks beforehand.

Anyone else had an accidental run in with stardom?

My brother met quite a few bands when he worked in Virgin Megastore in Birmingham as they had a load of signing sessions (Slipknot unmasked drinking cappuccino was one highlight, as was him getting the Manics to sign a wedding card for me!)

I saw Miles Hunt in Brum once coming out of a music shop. We bumped into a young band a couple of months back in a rock pub in Wolverhampton and got talking to them. TUrns out they were supporting someone at the Civic Hall that weekend. They were called Black Tide, if that means anything to anyone.

I was in Homebase a couple of months ago to get a new shower head and Michael McKeegan was a couple of places in front of us in the queue. I knew who it was though so it doesn’t really count. But my girlfriend didn’t, so that does ;-)

They were probably supporting Avenged Sevenfold - they are about 14 and cover Hit the Lights by Metallica

i was at a Backyard Babies gig a few years ago and afterwards was chatting to a guy…he told me he was the bass (i think) player with Danko Jones who were supporting. i didn’t know who they were before that gig and wasn’t paying much attention so can’t be sure if he was telling the truth or not…but when i did the whole “haha no you’re not…” he insisted that he was…I’ll never know…

I met Angus Young when i was about 5.

My Dad’s sister was married to a guy called Billy Young, who was Angus and Malcom’s cousin. When i was 5, my dad took me to my aunt’s house and Angus Young was there visiting his cousin while they were in town to play the Glasgow Apollo. I don’t remember it at all. It wasn’t til i was about 17 and was telling my dad that i was going to and AC/DC concert that he told me about this. :)

That’s cool - the Glasgow Apollo show is probably the most famous ac/dc gig - it’s the one on the “If You Want Blood” live album from ‘78.

Oh, and i’ve just remembered. I once refused the bass player from The View entry to a shed 7 gig for being underage at Glasgow Academy. For some reason that show was licenced for over 18’s only. This was about 4 yrs ago. He stood and shouted abuse at me for about half an hour before going back to Dundee. I had another couple of Run ins with him since The View took off,(threw him and his “Wasted Little DJ” girlfriend out of the Academy at another gig and various other things) but to be fair to him, a few weeks ago he shook my hand and apologized for being an intolerable wee shit that night :D

I met the singer guy from Maximo Park a few years back outside a recordshop in Manchester. They were doing a signing there but I had no idea who they were and spoke to him outside and asked what was going on. When he told me I said I hadn’t heard of them but good luck with it all, he responded with “Thanks, enjoy your chips.”.

Seems like a sound bloke though, Mr Maximo Whatever His Name Is.

Saw them in Wolves recently and he had severe food poisoning - ran off the stage and threw up behind the amps towards the end but still made it through the gig with full on energy. What a trooper!
