Title: Help save lives

The UK should join with Iraq and declare war on the US. That way we suffer fewer ‘friendly fire’ casualties.

The money saved on the military funerals can be spent on helicopter lessons.

the propaghanda which took place all these past months is unbelievable. all these pro-war people were convinced that war nowadays is a pleasant stroll and some sort of MS Flight Simulator kind of thing. and now i see all these pictures of dead men women and children, destroyed houses, captured americans who do not have a clue of how and why they ended up there. let’s see how bush, blur, athnar (?) and the other champions of peace will justify all this blood.

p.s. i visited these sites penn mentioned, i finally begin to understand why americans voted for bush. they say ‘every people have the leader they deserve’ and i am afraid this true in usa’s case.

It was good that Michael Moore spoke his mind at the oscars, bit of luck and bush won’t get another term, but there might be another farce like last time

“The majority of Americans — the ones who never elected you — are not fooled by your weapons of mass distraction. We know what the real issues are that affect our daily lives — and none of them begin with I or end in Q. Here’s what threatens us: two and a half million jobs lost since you took office, the stock market having become a cruel joke, no one knowing if their retirement funds are going to be there, gas now costs almost two dollars — the list goes on and on. Bombing Iraq will not make any of this go away. Only you need to go away for things to improve.”

i also think the mass distraction was more important than oil for this war. they can have oil easily from other parts of the world (for instance in venezuela they’re supporting the anti-chavez protest).

great site, really enjoyed it, especialy the story of “the fat and the lazy”. how good it’s not made by some stupid redneck who believes every word mr. bush says. funny they make jokes about the french and german armys, because once you give a real gun to american soldiers, they’ve got nothing better to do to each other. soldiers died in action:1 soldiers died because of friendly fire:16. frendly fire wins and makes it right to the finals! *hooray*

the same thing happened with germany and hitler.
i remember that when bush was elected he said he couln’t care less about foreign policy. see what happened.

You’re spot on there, my girlfriend used to work for BP, so knows the oil industry pretty well - oil is not really a motivating factor for the US. In fact, it’s hard to see what potential economic gain there is for the US, given their situation re Kuwait and Saudi Arabia and given that the cost of the fighting is going to be $75bn, so the economic benefit would need to be pretty drastic if it was the sole or main reason.

Still, Michael Moore’s speech was quite entertaining - the guy’s great live, very passionate, but it’s a little hard to take someone seriously when they talk about the starving of the world (as he did in his recent show in London) when that person clearly had a good time in the pie shop himself…

i have somewhere the famous article from the financial times about it.
it’s pretty convincing in its valutation of costs/benefits.
i think the real benefits for the us comes from the strategic value of the position of iraq.

I seriously have doubt if they’ll ever take Bagdad. Fighting a war in a city is totally different.

Colin (fantastic name for a soldier, no wonder he pronounces it differently) agrees with Tony, and not Georgey and Rummy, therefore hooray for Colin. Just a shame that he’s the token black dude in the US government and will probably be overruled by the others :(

i think that war on iraq has to do with oil. europe is receiving about 70-80% of oil from the middle east so if the us have total control of the area they can also have control over the financial situation of the EU.

I reckon its more to do with the fact that the USs economy is fucked at the moment and a war is a good way to cover that up, give america something else to think about “Go back to bed america, your government has it all figured out”

Have just spent the past 2 hours watching the BBC and seeing the Iraqis (and Americans) pull down a big statue of Sadly Insane in Baghdad. Quite an amazing bit of TV - and does seem to back up the claims that the war was just.

Presume it’s now going to be on the news for the next X hours/days, but still, a bit of a Berlin Wall TV moment.
