Anybody seen the movie “Primer”?

#

Started by Superunknown

I’ve seen it and I didn’t get so much of it that I feel really stupid.

Now, I’m certain that most people don’t get half of this movie, but would never admit it, because they want to be part of the clever in-crowd (and I’m sure the writer/director of the film intended people to react just like that).

So, has anybody seen it? Opinions?

Yeah, I saw it a couple of years ago. I thought it was confusing but pretty good. Can’t remember many of the details though, just lots of .com Americans in shirts and ties talking quickly and getting a bit freaked out.

I think you’d enjoy it alright Mikey

My first viewing was much like you described. Eliptical, almost too hip for its own good, etc. But, upon a friend’s suggestion, I watched it again and enjoyed it. I had much the same experience with the movie Pi.

it was batman he was meant to be doing, superman was always gonna be bryan singer…mainly cos hes a mental scientologist and they thought that would help him capture the story with relative ease.

aronofsky pitched his batman idea and the studio was like ‘wwhhooaaaa, thats way too dark’
id love to know what it was that made them think it was too dark…i mean its batman for fuck sake.
theres also stories that they asked him how they were supposed to market his vision with a happy meal and he went nuts and tore up the office, dunno if its true but i kinda hope it is

I wanted so much to enjoy The Fountain, but thought it was shit. Nice visuals, though. (Quite right about it being Batman, not Superman. Still a lil drunk from last night, it seems.) The Fountain reminded me of Southland Tales, great look, but frustrating to watch/understand/tolerate. But, I still think Aronofsky’s a genius and look forward to his next project.

Has anyone seen the movie ‘Below’, about a haunted WWII sub? Aronofsky wrote the screenplay. It was on BBC1 a few weeks ago, was pretty good. In fact BBC1 seem to be showing a good run of horror movies after 12 on Saturday nights - apart from ‘Cursed’, which was on recently too

^Yep, it had Dexter in it. I’m tryin to remember what other movies have been in the same slot recently… it’s really doing my head in. They were all quite recent horrors. Wish there was a schedules archive somewhere online >:-<

My old job was handy for things like this!! Maybe I’ll e-mail ‘em ;-)
