As grateful as I am for this indepth review of the gig, it would perhaps be nice if you could share a little bit more of your evening with Ginger and co. Namely… did they play any Endless Nameless?? ;)

they didn’t play any endless nameless

i saw giner before he gig and i asked him really nicely “can i have a photo with you please?”
he said “no - i’m waiting for some cds to arrive and i don’t know what the guy looks like” and walked away.

what a git

they did have a good set list and put on a kinda ok show. wasn’t overly impressed and ginger seemed to be in a mood. at the end they went off and there was no encore. :(

to be fair - you are right. The band has no business taking out record company shit on their paying fans.

But everyone cant be in a good mood every day. In their defence I thought they still played a cracking set when I saw them. I have seen then play loads and they always put on a good show - I saw them once when Ginger had flu and Danny and CJ helped out with singing most of the songs, i think a lot of bands would have cancelled the gig.

Looks like The Wildhearts are on hiatus again. He has joined another band to “get his spirits up”. Statement from him below…

I have been offered the job playing second guitar, as well as helping write the
new album, for The Brides Of Destruction. This does not mean that The Wildhearts
are over, it just means that I am going through a traumatic time of my life and
need a break from being the frontman/chief in charge.

My spirits are low and my performance as a lead singer would not be worth the
admission fee, believe me. I cannot stop playing music however, and the offer to
join The Brides has come at a time where I desperately need to concentrate on
something to help me cope, both mentally and emotionally. Tracii and the guys
have been so kind to me, and I am more than grateful for their friendship and
encouragement.

If everyone can kindly allow me the time to heal I would be grateful for the
considerate approach to this most unfortunate of times for me. I trust I can
count on the fans for support, as opposed to knee jerk opinions and malicious
gossip.

Thank you, and never take advantage of the love that you have in your life.

Ginger

Man, I’m never gonna get to here them play any endless nameless! ;)

Then again, maybe it’s my only chance to ever see Ginger live on stage. You know, I had a once in a lifetime chance to see The Wildhearts play as the supporting band of The Darkness in Vienna last year, but I missed it because I hadn’t known they were gonna play and so I came late. I’ll never forgive myself for that. Sorry, I know I’ve been whining about this issue before, but hey… it’s hard to get over things like that.

I saw them twice last year and they were great both times, but i didnt see them on their last tour. I was supposed to see them in Sheffield, but from what i’ve heard i’m glad i didn’t go.

I can understand how he feels though, Ginger’s always said he doesn’t always want to be a frontman and he’s always tried to get the rest of the band to sing for songs etc. Certain things are expected of a frontman and i think Ginger just wants a break from it.

I saw the wildhearts last year and they were great then. Whats the problem with ginger? I’m not much of a gossip monger so i haven’t been paying attention.

ginger’s taking a break, he’s helping with guitars with another band. Quick to say wildhearts aren’t splitting, he just wants to not be the frontman for a bit.

Cool news, although they’ll hardly be able to better “Waiting Room”.

I’m excited to see that they also do “Carmelita”, easily Warren Zevon’s best song ever. They won’t be able to better that one, either, but it could still be a cool version. Super Furry Animals cover version also sounds interesting.

Ginger is pretty religious about good/bad

Valor Del Corazon good
Yoni Bad
Wildhearts good
Market Bad

I think my biggest problem is that the album is just that - ginger covering many different styles - just for the sake of it.

And I don’t think he does many of them particularly well - I am also sick of hearing songs about his wife \ ex wife \ divorce…
