Notting Hill Gate.
@Superunknown. I honestly think it is probably the longest running hoax ever recorded. In either sense of the word.

Becuase Jedi is classed as a religion.

Taunty Dan’s “wedding” story.
Put it this way: he came out for a pint on Saturday night - HOW is that possible when he just got married?! I mean, there are laws about married men not leaving the house unaccompanied by the wife except for visits to the tip (“It’s about time you cleared that garage out, I can’t move in there for all your stuff…” See also the laws pertaining to married men and not having any stuff), aren’t there?!

Over a year ago, a few months before the last elections in belgium, the RTBF (state TV for the french speaking part of belgium) did a news show pretending belgium had split up (flemish part >< french part). In the beginning of the news, it wasn’t stated that this was just an illustration of what could happen, and that it wasn’t true. There were a lot of panic phonecalls to the TV station, and to the police, really an overall panic in the walloons (sp?).

If you’d ever been hit in the walloons, Tinne, you’d understand the panic that sets in.

There was Stakhanov in the USSR who was held up as a hero of the people because of his amazing productivity in a mine. I think it turned out he’d been cheating and he was quietly disposed of.
And Ghostwatch on BBC in about 1992 I think presented by Michael Parkinson, that was ace.
