Makes me feel safe…
Jesus. I just don’t get why they don’t go the whole hog. It’s obvious we would all be a lot safer if there was a curfew on everyone and we all had government operated cctv in our homes so they could keep an eye on all of us all the time. I’m not quite sure who ‘they’ are, white upper middle class blokes, I reckon. Anyway, I’m going to find out if it’s possible to emigrate to North Korea, they seem to have a much better grasp of civil liberties over there …

“government operated cctv in our homes”
I firmly believe that anyone that claims ‘if you’ve nothing to hide, you’ve nothing to fear’ should be legally obliged to have all the curtains in their home removed, any frosted glass in the bathroom to be replaced with clear panes, and ladders bolted to the outside of their house to allow easy viewing access to any upstairs rooms. People should then be allowed to congregate in groups outside, and press their noses to the glass, watching, while the person in question watches tv, goes to the toilet, sleeps, screws, or - I dunno - grieves over a recent death in the family. Anything and everything should be fair pickings. Anyone that so chooses to watch from outside should be subsidised by the government. It wouldn’t be any more of a waste of time or money than the schemes they actually come up with, and at least this way we know the person being watched doesn’t feel their civil liberties are being restrcited at all…

If they kept them on they could a hybrid TV show - a kinda cross between ‘You’ve been Framed’, ‘Police Camera Action’ and ‘Jackass’.
Get that fat bird off Emerdale cracking badly scripted jokes over CCTV footage of some copper zapping someone in the nads whilst canned laugher plays over the top.

Not that that is in the news today. As far as I can ascertain, the only news in the whole country today is that some cygnets have been born in a swannery in Abbotsbury. Why the f**k would I want to know that? It’s 400 miles away!! That’s BBC Breakfast for you, I guess. Lazy bastards.
