yeah, it is a bit fast paced. that was one of the reasons most americans didnt like it.
you should maybe start from the beiginning if you think its someting you can get into.
a lot of the jokes have continuity throughout the whole series and different seasons but i chos that episode cos its more self contained than most of the other ones.
my favourite character is gob, the slimy brother. hes just so incredibly ridiculous.

watching some old Anime. The Irresponsible Captain Tylor. Generally not a fan of the funnier stuff, it’s usually too over the top goofy. But this one let the situations and plot drive the laughs. Plus it had alot of Food for Thought.

*laughs and points* That is sad! You’d never catch me watching any of this ‘Doctor WHo’ nonsense, no sirree. Especially not the the Robots of Death, of which I know nothing. I’ve never even heard of D84 or SuperVoc, and I don’t know what a laserson probe is. Nope. Not I.

daryl… you know in Dr Who on Saturday? Why was that man old? Cause if they were making all of these ‘generations’ but they were only 7 days old and everyone else looked well young then what was he doing there being all beardy?

You beat me on that one. The only details I really took in were to do with Louise Jameson and the size of her outfit.

I know, it doesn’t really make much sense. :s I guess since none of them were actually created as babies, they could be ‘born’ at any age? That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.

@Butters, yeah she’s Peter Davison’s daughter.

@Dennis: I believe you know far more than you’re letting on. :p

you should give arrested development a watch…its not your typical u.s humour which is why most americans never got into it.
it was a bit too complex, more like uk humour
i think even roybatty would agree with that

Well, the American critics and Emmy voters loved that show. It had a small loyal audience that actually demanded a third season from a lazy, out of touch network. So, yeah, I guess I EVEN agree, whatever the qualifier means there. :)

butters (mikey) wrote:

the point i was trying to make was that despite being a critical success and having an almost cult-status following, the average american found the story pace and structure too fast and too complex to honour it with loyal viewing. resulting in the second series being cut back and the third series even more so due to american networks preference for programmes that pull in massive viewing figures rather than more credible and critically successful programming
the reason i said even you would agree with that is cos you previously alluded to americans stupidity in reference to not grasping the concept of it…here…

No worries. :) It was a great show. I suppose average Americans need their comedies to feature fat dudes that are inexplicably married to model types they couldn’t get in any semblance of real life. :-D
