Wonder what Dimebag (RIP) would’ve made of it.

I’m not that much into Pantera (do like the couple discs I own, though). Which song was that that Grandma M was mangling? And what was she doing to that poor amp? And when did she start shooting roids? And who in attendance did she think she was impressing with her “rock?” And…fuck, the mind boggles.

I notice she played the easiest fucking Pantera riff… one step up from smoke on the water - would have been impressed if she had played the next bit though

Probably even longer than it would take you to learn to jump to 6.20 on your media player :p

Ah, give the lady a break. Fair play to her is what I say - I always taught there was more to that her and paying tribute to Dimebag just proves my point.
Thinking of Dimebags death just weirds me out - was my Birthday, was at a Therapy? gig in Dublin, Liverpool beat Olympiakos to eventually go and win the Champions League… My world was perfect until I got home that night wasted and switched on my Computer…
I bet nobody in that audience even realized that she was paying tribute to him.

It’s a fairly big assumption - my guess is she couldn’t give a flying one about Dimebag Darrell…I mean, why would she?

Everytime I play a Pantera riff on my guitar - I’m playing a cool riff - not paying tribute to anyone.
I suspect that she was doing the same.
Every time someone has a car crash, are they paying tribute to Princess Di?

A car crash would only be a tribute to Princess Di if getting shot on stage was paying tribute to Dimebag, methinks. ;)
@KJC, I remember that gig. Flew home for it, met up with some mates after who’d missed the Ian Brown gig because of the Liverpool game and were celebrating and then the next day read about the shooting. I was surprised at how saddened I was.

Here here - yup, was a real downer.
Anyways, I am happy to see someone mainstream do some Pantera. I remember the MTV Awards that year when what’s her name (Alya?) got tributes left right and centre. Can’t remember if Dime even got a mention.
As for the tribute thing, there were a few:
Avengened Sevenfold playing “Walk”, now that sucked ass!
Head from Korn playing a guitar solo etc…
As long as no one does a tribute to Nathan Gale…

Pantera are/were the ‘official’ band of the Dallas Stars (Ice) hockey team. They wrote their opening tune, and Walk is still played at Faceoffs. I appreciate it’s not entirely mainstream, but it kind of is in Dallas. :D
