fantasy euro 2008

#

Started by butters (mikey)

my lack of impatience has taken over and ive set up a league via the official website, sponsored by grant’s new employers.
it starts off with a preliminary league based on the upcoming friendlies so you can get a good indication of what players are likely to be in the starting elevens

the link is http://en.fantasy.euro2008.uefa.com/M/home.mc
and the league code is 66994-9987

Good man Butters. I tried to start this thread a couple of times but got stuck trying to explain the whole points for friendlies thing.

This league should be a bit more of an even playing field - don’t think too many of us know our Austrian / Swiss wingbacks etc :-)

It’s annoying that you can’t get Larsson yet. Anyway, my team still predictably fulfills its Celtic affiliated quota:

Boruc [Pol]
Materazzi [Ita] Taranov [Rus] Lahm [Ger] Cannavaro [Ita]
C Ronaldo [Por] Ballack [Ger] Fabregas [Spa] Deco [Por]
Zurawski [Pol] Klose [Ger] Vennegoor of Hesselink [Hol]

Remember u can make unlimited transfers until the friendlies are over

i was thinking about ol’ artur myself, hes forever a legend after the whole pope t-shirt incident. genius.
i think when henrik becomes available ill probably swap arshavin for him. not sure if he’ll be starting for sweden but still gotta have him.

zurawski though…that gave me a chuckle, i never really liked him. he wasn’t worthy of the no. 7 shirt

i reckon him or luca toni will be but they cost a bit too much for me, so went with huntelaar which isnt a bad compromise i reckon.

After about 3 hours ive finally finished my team

Isaksson (Swe)
Lahm (Ger) , Ujfalusi (Cze) , Evra (Fra) , Hetinga (Hol)
Chivu (Rom) , Ronaldo (Por) , Schweinsteiger (Ger) , Ribery (Fra)
Torres (Spa) , Ibrahimovic (Swe) , Koller (Cze)

I think the Germans are gonna win it or maybe Portugal. Think i’ll have a sneaky tenner bet on Germany though.

It’s strange that all 3 of our teams are pretty much completely different. That’s why I think this one will be a lot more interesting.

Speaking of bets, I also have a tenner on the ITV commentators to use the phrase “From Russia With Love” during the game tonight at 40-1. Surely it’s a cert!!

Great start for me - I can’t even pick my team.

I’ve registered and I’m logged in, but where it says “play now”, I click there and nothing happens because there’s no link.

Is it just me then?

But it did squeak when I clicked it and now it’s just run off the table, so I don’t know what’s going on…!

I do think that the site layout and that “points for friendlies” concept are both very confused.

Seeing the McDonalds logo plastered everywhere isn’t great either. But it *is* the official site! :-/

That team is the shizzle - you gotta look at the groups each team is in. Portugal & the Czechs are the only dead certs to get out of their groups I think. I reckon Germany could go a long way too. Holland could be a first round casualty.
