Well I may end up regretting this but i’ve made a few transfers and I’ve taken out Ronaldo… I just have a feeling that he isn’t gonna be the star of the tournament. My team now looks like this

Cech CZE
Senderos SWI , Mellberg SWE , Evra FRA , Corluka CRO
Ribery FRA , Sneijder NED , Silva SPA , Schweinsteiger (c) GER
Klose GER , Koller CZE , Olic CRO.

I’ve also had a funny feeling about France aswell, I’m gonna put a bet on them to win it.

if your not honna have ronaldo then its a good bet to have ribery…one of them two will be the star of the tournament. i tried getting both of them into my team but it got too frustrating trying to decide who to drop

Yeah I do like Ribery and with there group being so difficult it may take just one piece of brilliance from him to beat the likes of Italy, Holland and Romania. I’m pretty sure hes there penalty taker aswell.

You watch Ronaldo will score a hat trick in the first game or something lol.

Well only two days left to wait , really looking forward to it starting now… this championship is being really overlooked by the British press, theres hardly any mention in the newspapers (well the mirror anyway) , no tv specials except for on itv4, I know England aren’t in it but this is really poor.

the bbc sports website has quite a lot of good content, blogs, previews, pundits opinions and other articles. theres also a video of the opening titles they have for their programmes. interesting to say the least.

i might go back to my team and try and get ribery in there.

Well, I was surprised Dusty that one of the little stats that flashed up on the site said that only 50% of players have picked Ronaldo so you’re far from alone.

Not having him as captain for the domestic league this year was madness though. For example, I think it was Graeme on this site who didn’t make a single transfer all season but still finished 3rd or 4th cos he had him as captain the whole time

hes pretty good, plays for zenit st petersburg and finished top scorer in the uefa cup this season. hes only recently come into the russia team but i seems like hes a big part of the way hiddink is wanting them to play. hes got 9 caps since his first game last year and scored 4 goals.
i reckon hes not a bad sub striker to have and a bargain at 6.5

Just a few last minute changes… couldnt help myself. I transfered Senderos for a cheaper sweedish defender so I could get Carvalho rather than Mellberg, I figured that senderos will only be on my bench anyway and even if he gets automatically subbed he’d probably cost me points as I think the Swiss might concede a few as they haven’t played a competetive game in nearly two years.

I would have rathered Mertersaker or Metzelder than Carvalho but unfortunatley the only two players from each team rule come in :(.

Am I taking this way too seriously ? :D

Just had check and some guy or gal had 50 points , thats mad. Pepe as captain what a guess that was.

First two games were ok , Portuagal looked good. The Checz looked average but then again could be first game nerves but without Rosicky and Nedved they don’t offer much , The Swiss were a bit unlucky and played ok I though.

Germany and Croatia will probably both win tonight.

I managed to draw Italy in the pub sweep aswell , so i’m quite happy with that.

Austria were quite unlucky weren’t they? Croatia first half looked pretty decent but they totally run out of steam the last 20 or so.

I was reading the paper yesturday and 6 out of 11 footie pudits said the Croats would make the final four just cause they beat England twice, no chance from that display.

Modric looked alright first half , 16 million for him though ? Olic also looked good first half but run out of steam , he reminds me of Dirk Kuyt but with a worse goal record.

I hope the Germany game is better , hopefully a few more goals.

i didnt think he’d have a chance in getting a game this tournament since hes played bugger all this season for bayern and now he only goes and gets 2 goals.

most of my points seem to be coming from defence this year. gutted

I already want to make changes to my side lol , Schweinsteiger didn’t even start and then he got booked. Jan Koller yesturday did nothing for me at all , hes starting to get on a bit and the Cechz don’t look to great.

You watch if I transfer both they’ll end up being great the rest of the tournament.

Yeah mine (defence) too Butters. But Klose did get me a nice 16 points atm as hes my captain. He should have really taken the first chance for himself. And I can’t believe he’s been credited with the assist for the 2nd goal haha , what a pass :P.

klose looked scared to score against poland today. although, may have been a wise decision, podolski scores against them and gets a nice rooneyesque stamp for his troubles.
klose and podolski are actually both polish but play for germany through naturalisation…poland must be livid.
shame for boruc that his team-mates incompetency make him look like an average goalkeeper.
does anyone know if evra is frances starting leftback…thats one position ive never been sure about

It appears you can make 4 transfers without losing any points I think. So i’ve made 3 lol , I may regret this.

Got rid of Schweinsteiger , Koller and Olic. Brought in João Moutinho, Podolski (You could see that one yeah?) and Di Natale.

the transfers dont kick in until the knockout stage.
the number of players from each team goes up each round and the budget is 110 instead of 100
for the final your even allowed to have all 12 players from the one team

@ Butters , Unfortuantley I can’t give you that answer. I had him in my team and was put off by newspapers and some websites saying that Abidal is more likely to start , which I can’t believe. I put Thuram in instead as i’m pretty sure he’s gonna start and costs the same.

And yep I agree klose looked scared of scoring , the fans loved him though , I could hear them chanting his name many times.

Confirm transfers
Please confirm that you want to make the following transfers:

Schweinsteiger replaced by João Moutinho
Koller replaced by Podolski
Olić replaced by Di Natale
After making these transfers you’ll have 1 transfers remaining this Matchday.

These transfers will be active for Group Stage 2 as long as they are confirmed by 11 Jun 18:00 CET.

*Is confused*

I just wasn’t sure if I did make the transfers that it would be as you said and they’d come through at the later stages or just the next group game.

The only thing is Di Natale as I would then have 2 French , 1 Dutch and 1 Italian… one or possibly 2/3 has to go.

I was wondering how that was going to work - that sounds like a good idea they have. I’m fairly content so far - biggest downside is that my czech and croat players didn’t get on :-/ I had a fiver on Germany to win 2-0 last night though :-)
