Turning the Significant Other into a T? Fan

#

Started by RoyBatty (Steve)

Ok. Trying to turn the new girlfriend into a full fledged, true blue T? fan. Have played a few acoustic b-sides and most of SD and IL to somewhat positive reaction. Thinking a nice 8-10 song compilation (played ad naseum, of course) might do the trick.

Her fav bands are The Pixies, The Descendents, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and Powderfinger. She is 31and Australian, if that matters. Any song suggestions? (Feel free to post an entire CD listing, if you want.)

my girlfriend is 31 also (i’m 26), and i made her a 3 cd comp - it would be impossible to edit more songs out! she seems to like it, ‘our love must die’ and IL seem to be the favourites.
ps. we’re expecting a little one - will too much t? at an early age put him off?

Why not play the whole lot.

And Butters, how could you do that to a woman? Now off to bed.

With those bands as favourites, I don’t think you will have trouble getting her into T?

My fiancĂ©e (feels weird typing that!) saw Therapy? in Glasgow Barrowlands on the Shameless tour (before I knew her)… but I made her a mix CD last year and she never listened to it. Gah!

She’s yet to experience my metamorphisis into a complete gibbering rock nerd when Therapy? are playing in town either :-)

Why not take the webgig setlist as the line up for the CD? After all, by definition it is the most popular Therapy? songs as chosen by a large cross-section of die-hard fans and fair-weather-fans alike.

All depends on the chick really…

Six Mile Water (SPYF) is usually a winner amongst the ladies. Most tracks on IL also usually cut it. I found that loads of girls liked Troublegum and Semi-Detached due to the feelgood / melodic factor in the songs.

If she like the Pixies she may dig the earlier stuff more as it is more Indie…

Am trying to convince my girlfriend as well - not proving easy!!! (she listens pop rock, hip hop etc… - help me…)

If she likes hip hop play her Come And Die.

If only it were aggressive hip hop…

She likes Aikon (if that is how his name is spelled) and all that kack. She is also into Eurothrash - but hey, that is so bad that it is actually sometimes funny ;-) On the upside she likes some pop rock acts that are just about bearable (e.g. The Frames)

Anyways, played her Screamager yesterday, at first she was moaning, but them humming along when the chorus came - winner!

my ex who was going to come see t? with me in manc (till the narberth gig got announced and i spent the money she gave me for a manc ticket) only liked tramline, out of everything I played her.

I got her to sky+ the atl special for me, i went over hers to watch it, and she found as many excuses as she could to keep leaving the room.

I got my other ex to buy herself troublegum though.

Played my girlfriend some Infernal love and she loved it and bought Troublegum which she liked too. She says Andy can’t sing though? I dunno about that but I am tone deaf. She also really enjoyed shameless, mainly the pretty upbeat tracks.
