He had a brain haemorrage back in ‘97 and pretty much and had to learn how to do everything again…you can tell he is impaired but I think it’s great he’s able to take part at least in some way

How do you figure that one out? It’s 3/4 of the classic Carcass lineup plus the drummer of Arch Enemy!

Don’t know to be honest, I haven’t read any interviews with him for a while. This one’s quite a few years old now: http://www.earache.com/bands/carcass/news_archive/carcass.html
These rereleases are excellent. I’m trying to figure out the logistics of going to see them at some festival in South Netherlands at the end of August (just for the day, I can’t face staying at a festival overnight).

good point, its just i really despise arch enemy, their music makes me feel ill, i dont know why, it kinda upsets me seeing carcass members in a band that i feel this natural resentment to, not as dissapointing as the time i went to a gig and one of the ex members of extreme noise terror were playing in one of these shitty symphotic-metal bands though.

I say I’m trying to figure out the logistics of it - I’ve actually only found out the name of it (Loud In The South festival) but I can’t seem to track down anywhere to buy tickets…I’ll have another look later

But Carcass members aren’t in Arch Enemy - a member of Arch Enemy is in Carcass (Amott doesn’t count!). It’s not like the drummer has any influence either cause he’s playing Carcass tunes! At first I was dubious about it without Ken but I think it’s a good thing now. Fair play to them, they’re getting to travel the world playing music again and getting the respect they fully deserve.

Its weird - if you ever see the comments posted on Blabbermouth about a band - you normally get ‘Fear Factory are gay’ or ‘sepultura can lick my ballz’ or some retarded nonsense like ‘Maiden haven’t done a good album since Diannio’ type crap - but after every Carcass news item there is an outpouring of positivity - I havent seen anyone post anything bad about them… ever

see that they are off to Japan to play. what do ye guys think are the chances of Carcass playing some shows closer to the UK? I’d imagine that if reports form these shows are good then some promoters may shell out to get them over.

Anyone noticed the band trivium ripped off copral jigsore quandary on their song pull on the strings of your martyr, they just stole the song and played it slow.

He had a massive brain haemorrhage. Was in a coma for like, 10 months or something crazy like that.
The fact that he’s still alive after it is amazing.
The fact that he’s up and around, albeit in a fairly limited capacity is nothing short of a miracle.
Wish he’d pick my lotto numbers for me…

Be warned though the “bonus track” is shit - I have it on a Japanese version of Swansong - it’s a weird version of one of the album tracks with producer Colin Richardson shouting “Death Rider Daaaaaaaaaaaa” over the top (and I’ve no idea what that means)

From the Damnation site
CARCASS will play their only UK date headlining Damnation Festival 2008.
The death metal legends will perform their first show on home soil in 14 years on Saturday, November 22 at Leeds University.
And the band yesterday hinted it could be the last show they ever play, wrapping up a successful reunion tour headlining some of the biggest metal stages across the globe.
Frontman Jeff Walker, said: “Well, we enjoyed making you sweat… this is gonna be the ONLY UK show this year, and quite possibly your last chance to EVER catch us live!
“You Southerners are gonna have to get your shoes dirty and make your way ‘oop’ North to Leeds!
“To quote Herschell Gordon Lewis ‘Prepare To Die!’”
Damnation Festival director Gavin McInally added: “The exclusive booking of Carcass is the biggest coup in British metal in 2008 and we’re delighted to host their return to home soil.
“The fact that it could be the last time they ever take the stage together, makes the prospect of seeing them headline Damnation even more special.
“After a 14-year break, it’s almost impossible to predict just how large the demands for tickets will be, so without the cheesy sales pitch, pawn your wedding ring or steal from close friends - just make sure you grab a brief!
“And stayed tuned for further announcements as the finest, doom, grind, black, rock and heavy metal completes what will be the finest day of music the UK will witness in 2008.”
Tickets for Damnation will go on sale this Friday, June 27 at 9am - with briefs priced at £29 (subject to booking fee).
Available from http://www.leedstickets.com/, http://www.seetickets.com/ and http://www.ticketline.co.uk/
Look out for details of tickets going on sale in record stores and shops in and around Leeds in the near future.
