Jeez,
What a douchebag. I like the way he starts it off along the “it was our fault…” and yet slams the “fan..” bit in there. Jason has been silent and respectful since leaving.

I agree about the rolling stones comment - If songs that you wrote when you were 19yrs old (Phantom Lord, Whiplash, Hit The Lights) get on your setlist instead of any new output… you need to sit down and ask yourself some questions.

Like “just what the fuck is that on my chin?”, “where did that fella with the bellbottoms go?”, and “why is this drummer such a cunt?”

In My Opinion, St Anger was the ONE bad album in a pretty good collection. Yes I love Load and Reload. I even prefer the latter. I dont give a fuck about Lars, to go from drumming like he did in 1988 to drumming like he does now is just ridiculous. James is the only surviving member who can still play his instrument. But I’m very excited about the new album.

I find it amazing that they have been releasing albums for over 20 years now and will only have released 9 with this album. The best albums were the first ones, has been declining ever since.
I will definitely check the new album out, not expecting much.

I prefer Black to Justice. I find justice lacking. Its not just the lack of bass but the shoddy drum sound and the lengthy arrangements and lack of overall melody. It pales in comparison to the ( in my opinion ) far superior Master of Puppets.
I find Black to be like Justice but streamlined and stuffed with melody and decent arrangements.
I also prefer Relaod to Load, finding it darker, overall faster, weirder ( which is good ) and more interesting.

i dont really like the Black album SHOCK HORROR! Probably because ive heard it too much.
And i don’t get why people are calling Jason this martyr who comes out on top of Metallica. The guys a dork! He always came across (to me) as a lucky fan, which is good in some respects as he was always super enthusiastic and giving it his all but he let himself get pussywhipped by not writing any songs and having zero personality on his instrument unlike the mighty Cliff and the unstoppable Trujillo.

Jason was my favourite bassist just for his stage presence and back up vocals. But Rob is getting there. Rob is certainly a very good bassist and his vocals are improving.

Its worse when you consider that in the last ELEVEN years, theyve managed ONE studio album, and it was their worst album.

I was gonna say that Reload might be their worst but Fuel pisses on anything from St Anger. I had a listen to The Unnamed feeling as it was a single and all I can ask is “What possessed them to release this as a single?” I honestly have tried to listen to it all the way through but my attention just wanders.

Listen - Metallica’s stuff since Puppets have been hit and miss, its that simple, though I doubt that Cliff would be in the band if he was still around.

The only one in the band who can still play is James. Whos to say that Cliff also would have completely forgotten how to play in time and in tune ? Also, If Cliff was still in the band, we also dont know that they would have just churned out a bog standard metal album every 3-4 years like slayer seem to do.

Shit, wrong thread,
Yes, Slayer only release albums every three or four years but like Metallica’s out put of late, its pants.
