Fucking awesome.
The guitar side is easy… a lot easier than Guitar Hero - infact I was playing the guitar stuff on hard and its more like the medium setting on GH.
But the drums are ace!
How’s Rock Band after a good 2 months? Is it still challenging, have the instruments proven to be durable (and I’m mainly talking about the drumkit)?
I wasn’t going to buy the game, since I’m waiting for Guitar Hero World Tour, but the tracklisting and downloadable content of Rock Band is pretty interesting. Especially since Neversoft announced on E3 that the instruments of Rock Band for Xbox360 will be compatible with World Tour, and after a lot of googeling it turns out to be vice versa (at least for the first edition of RB, let’s hope they don’t modify them for later editions).
So I was wondering, is it worth it to say goodbye to the Wii edition of the Guitar Hero series (for which I already own a guitar controller, … 2 actually, for multiplayer) and continue on the Xbox360, together with Rock Band. Or should I stay true to my Wii, and forget about Rock Band (the Wii edition is said to be utter shite compared to the other consoles)?

The drumkit has held its own - it has has a decent pounding! The downloadable content has been really good and I’ve read that you can carry it over to rock band 2 whent that comes out.
Does your fella or your mates like to play? cause it really, really comes into its own in multiplayer.
360 all the way!

Great! The single player mode in Guitar Hero is nicer than multiplayer, therefor it’s always a fight who’s turn it is to play Guitar Hero :-p
Rockband would then be the ideal game to jam together
The only thing is, the Guitar Hero drumkit looks nicer… and is said to be nicer to play on (but I think it was Activision who said that) I’ll have a good look at it at the Games Convention, and hopefully try it out. Maybe Harmonix will be there too, so I can try out Rock Band as well, could be, since it’s just been released over here.
But if GH’s kit turns out to be best, I’ll have to wait till the end of the year :-s

I don’t know how the kits are going to be compatible - The rockband kit has 4 pads - the GH one has 3 with 2 cymbals… unless the cymbals just do the same?

If a Rock Band drumkit is detected in Guitar Hero, the notes that roll over the screen reduce to 4, so the drums are programmed twice. I thought there was video on youtube where they showed it, but I can’t find it anymore… :-(

The tracklisting of Rock Band 2 is pretty weak, there’s only about 10 amazing songs on it… but still… if I like the first Rock Band, the 2nd probably gets a chance as well :-)
Ozzy is motion-captured for GH World Tour… looks interesting check it out

I played both Rock Band (1) and Guitar Hero World Tour yesterday at the Games Convention in Leipzig. Both drumkits are fun, but the Rock Band kit feels more like an extended version of the Bongo’s for Gamecube than a drumkit and it makes a lot of noise when you hit it! However I really enjoyed playing it, but the guitar feels very cheap, not as sturdy as the GH guitar.
The GH drumkit does feel more like a real drumkit and makes a lot less noise when hit.
I pretty much knew what Guitar Hero WT was going to be like, but I was really impressed with their press conference! The “rock star creator” is pretty advanced but the most beautiful thing about the new Guitar Hero is the music studio! You can record your own songs and it goes very very deep!!! :-)~
Rock Band can absolutely not compete with Guitar Hero World Tour. They know it and they shit their pants when they hear the words “Guitar Hero” :-D
I still want Rock Band as well though, it was fun, I must admit.

Yes, there are cheats to unlock all the songs. Just do a saerch for it on google or somethin. There are tutorials in the game itself and they’re pretty good if you’ve never played before. Start on the easy levels, and you’ll be ok. You’ll be addicted before too long!!! :)

I don;t have memory cards so i’m guessing the wii is using its internal.. would this be a reason?
Its just very frustrating.

If it’s GH III I’ll give it a try tonight. If it’s World Tour, I’m affraid I can’t help since I’ve got the 360 version.

I’ve got no sense of rhythm at all, but got RB1, RB2 & GH:WT. One of mates plays on-line, he’s rated about 10th (Hard) in the whole PS on-line community! Another doesn’t relequish the bass, unless he needs the loo or is sleeping!
But as none of the can hold any sort of tune, I get lumbered with the vocals - I have stick at medium. Otherwise you’ve never seen a band die on stage so fast. But I make them laugh - they almost lost it completely with a fit of corpsing when we did Freak On A Leash!!!

Some songs are easier on expert, since they’re more natural to play. I can’t play any on expert though, but my boyfriend can’t play Overkill in hard but can finish it easily in expert. :-)

@Simon, as far as I’m aware, there’s no easy way to change profiles, and I agree: it’s really frustrating.
@CE: if you’re wanting to play guitar, then I’d agree with An, but if you’re after bass, then World Tour is much much better. You can play a proper solo ‘campaign’, and it’s much more challenging (though still not challenging enough for my liking. I got over halfway through expert in about a week when I played it at my parents’ house over Christmas. Still really want to get it for myself, though. :D). Mind you, that’s for the Wii; I don’t know if there’s any significant difference for the PS3.
