I don’t know, James really struggles on the chorus for “All night long”, it is almost like his voice is about to give way.
His voice has been shot since the self titled album.

All Night Long? You’re right, though, he sounds especially out of breath on that ad-libbed Jamaican bit at the end. ;-)

“All Nightmare Long” - yeah, you can hear that he is taking his voice to the limit and almost failing on that one.

Strangely, I like the vocal on the chorus on that one. It’s simultaneously both raw and catchy. I think Het had to change his singing style after AJFA, particularly when singing live, or he would have no voice at all at this point.

Agreed. A couple clunkers aside, I really enjoy the new one. It’s sorta like the missing link between Justice and the BA. What’s your take on the mix?

Yeah, they do a live version of the show midweek now, and then go off-air and record the rest of the programme for Friday’s showing.
I thought Metallica’s sound was very echoey and weak. Admittedly this probably isn’t their fault, but still. And Kirk was really struggling to keep up with the faster bits. There’s something very odd about his guitar sound, too, it always sounds out of tune with everything else, even though it isn’t.

I didn’t hear the cd yet, but seeing ‘the day that never comes’ on Later with Jooles Holland doesn’t really motivate me to listen to the cd.
That was a very poor performance. And don’k know if it was because of the bad performance or it simply is a bad song?

I have grown increasingly aware of the prediliction on this board to follow up a compliment with an insult. It happens time and again
For Example:
” The new Metallica album is great. Kirks hair is still shit though ”
” I fucking LOVE mint cornettos !…Italians are all cunts though ”
:D

The jools Holland thing wasn’t that bad, if the song looked a bit bumpy i would say having to edit a minute off its running time might not have helped… after spending a long time learning a song and getting its feel then having to shorten sections and stuff they were probably thinking way too much instead of it being a natural performance.
I’m enjoying what they are doing at the moment, the BBC stream of their gig sounded really good… and I’m liking the album, i’ve actually started playing some of their 90’s stuff for the first time in ages. I was interested to hear in an interview that James really really wanted the songs to all be about 5 minutes long so they could put some more songs on that were as good, but Lars wanted the longer songs and he can’t be arsed arguing anymore.

Got it yesterday, forgot that it was out week ago:) I enjoy it a lot, best thing they´ve done since the Black one. But one thing: listening to it with headphones gives me headache! There´s something with the sound, is it a bit too raw!? anyone got the same experience with headphones? and I listened with “deasent sound” not too loud..

The album overall isn’t that bad at all, not excellent now either mind you.
I got the my copy delivered yesterday also and threw it into the car this morning. The sound quality of this album is simply crap though. The drums are too loud / distorted and you can hardly make out the bass.
It is a shame really, because it would have been pretty good with a decent recording.

If it means you can just leave the controller alone and hear the album without Kirk’s guitar playing, that’s gotta be a good thing.
