a job interview? :p
Go on - do tell :)
Well, it’s working in the Odyssey VIP area as a waitor / bar staff hopefully.
http://www.odysseyvip.com/?page=home
All seems very swanky to me and not the usual scummy bar work I’m used to.
Advertised as £6.50 per hour too, but I’m not expecting that!
Congrats, Squall :)

If you turn up to interviews looking like you don’t give a fuck - how do you expect to get hired?
… Perhaps I should explain myself a bit clearer ?
I was told WHSMith were hiring, so i just went in wearing what I was wearing, jeans, t-shirt, scruffy hoody. I asked about interviews and the guy said ” oh right - you can go up now if you want ” so I did - its not like I purposefully turned up like that. usually I wear all clean tidy clothes :)

Legally, to serve drinks, yes.
But it’s considered age discrimination if they don’t consider under 18s.
Graeme is exactly right, it’s glass collecting. Not a nice job, but it pays and once you’ve worked in one bar you can walk into any basically.

In fact, from the pub’s point of view getting glass collectors who ARE too young to serve the drinks is good business sense, as the whole minimum wage thing means they can be paid loads less, whilst for the youngsters themselves it is GREAT to have such “huge” amounts of money to spend on Pokemon stickers and/ or crystal meth.

Did you make that up? There’s certainly no English law that says you have to consider employing children, I’m sure!!

I meant people who can legally work (16 and over) and under 18…
But there are some jobs which you have to be over 18, ie. security, driving, direct credit card sales, stuff like that. I don’t know why the last one is a must for over 18 though, never understood it.

I suppose it makes sense - if you aren’t old enough to have credit, you aren’t old enough to give credit.
Note to anyone yet to get a credit card:
DON’T!

I get very irate (once I have left the supermarket, of course, I mean, I wouldn’t actually really in real life you know complain or anything…) cos what does that make ME if she’s underage?!
Barstids.

maybe they have an inclining my wife is old enough and hence she WILL have ID, problem solved, whereas they fear you may not have ID which would put them in the tricky situation of having to refuse you service, which is usually too much for a panicked jobsworth minimumwager to cope with.
