I always thought the funniest thing about little britain was the guy who went round to his mates grandma’s for a bit of perving… the bit where he sucked her toes was funny as fuck.

They let themselves down by dropping all that kind of thing in favour of “I’m the only gay in the village” and “yeah but no but yeah”…

First series was good when it first come out , the one sketch that always stood out for me was a character that only appeared once A police officer/driving instructor that went quite mad and in the end started shouting at his learner and then said the classic line “… Now on your way you black bastard” lol when the learner was a white male. Thought it was a good odd evil sketch.

I also agree Holy Grail is better than Life of Brian even though it is great.

Yep, that’s probably one of the only sketches that I like from that show - the cop who pulls over the white driver and calls him a black bastard. The ‘posh son suckling at his mothers breast’ gag got old very quick and was quite cringeworthy, much like all the other gags - basically, they made a series every year out of just one episode of ideas. How they got away with it I don’t know.

Like yourself, I agree Holy Grail is better than Life of Brian - I regularly quote the “We are the knights that say ecky ecky…” bit to the girlfriend when I’m drunk for her amusement/disgust.

Yeah, what was that? i was a bit pisse dand flicking channels and saw it. Didn’t bother with it mind.

And yeah, holy grail beats life of brian. Both excellent, but grail is daft whereas brian is more satirical than anything. And i like daft. :D

It was a show from 2001 being aired again. I didnt expect it to be as funny as it was. Puts little Britain to shame. Mind you - most sketch shows do. Man Stroke Woman especially.

Anything by Chris Morris is fantastic. Brass Eye is still funny as fuck.

Has anyone here seen ‘Jam’? Probably his most overlooked creation. It’s one of the darkest (yet one of the funniest) comedies I’ve ever seen.

I never watched Jam - someone warned me off it saying that it was nowhere near as funny as Brass Eye / Day Today - so I kinda let it skip by. So its worth a watch then?

I thought it was really lame, but I know people who think it’s a work of genius so maybe I’m missing something. I don’t get all the fuss over The Mighty Boosh either.

Yeah deadsetgav, ‘Jam’ is DEFINATELY worth watching in my opinion. Check out some clips on youtube first or something and see what ya think.

It does boil down to personal taste though. I know people that absolutely love it and some that think it’s the biggest pile of shit they’ve ever seen! One thing is for sure though, it makes for very uneasy viewing.

Jam is…odd. Not laugh out loud funny, more the kind of “isn’t this a bit wrong…?” uncomfortable funny. Not essential in my opinion. His best work remains the fake news/documentary format for me.

Boosh series one and two are amazing, 3 was piss poor, and live they really are taking the piss.

I dont MIND The Mighty Boosh - its certainly a lot better than Lirttle Britain. They’re scraping the concrete where the bottom of the barrel used to be.

Nah - I think Big Train is still fantastic. I’m part way through watching a show that I downloaded (missed it first time round) called Man Stroke Woman - its a few years old (bout 2005 i think - only 3 years but LoG isn’t much older) and that is really funny.

I wasn’t mad on that but Big Train is awesome! the jockeys who want to be firemen are fantastic!

Yeah - I think my all time favourite was where they had the artist formally known as price stalking jockeys in the wild!

Sorry, it’s all about Peep Show for me.

I hope, really, that they lay it to rest instead of past-its-sell-by-date-ing it like every other comedy

My favourite big train sketch was where simon pegg was terrified of spoons, and someone came in stirring a cup of tea, and the camera pans back to simon and hes gone - and they all look out the window and hes dead on the floor :D

My fave is when Simon Pegg is in the operating theatre doing an emergency operation and the phone rings and he just can’t get away from the person on the other end then the patient flatlines and he says, “Doesn’t matter they’re dead now, carry on!”
