No, From Hell wasn’t by Tim Burton.
Have you seen Ed Wood? That’s a good Burton-Depp film, not forgetting Edward Scissorhands of course

I fucking hate musicals!! No one should ever spontaneously break out into song in a film. That being said, I thought Sweeny Todd was morbid fun — brutally bloody and well made. Couldn’t stand many of the songs though. Btw, From Hell was by the Hughes Brothers; considering they are two black dudes from LA, I thought their take on the Jack the Ripper tale was surprisingly good. Being a Yank, I can’t comment on the accents, though. Anyone, seen their doc American Pimp? Fucking hysterical.

Yeah, she’s in her early 40’s. Still no reason for the equino-zation of her mug though. ;-)

she was in that film with bruce willis and the speedboats wasn’t she - I seem to remember her being quite decent looking in that.
She however does indeed now bear striking resemblance to Seabiscuit

You dare diss the D? ;-) Yeah. I used to really like Jack Black, but it seems he’s doing the same thing over and over and he seems to get cast in every single fucking movie made today. But I gotta admit I thought he was great in Tropic Thunder. Shit film that shouldn’t have been shit…for me it’s gotta be that Dylan biopic I’m Not There.
Oh yeah, good call on “I’m Not There.” What a pretentious piece of shit.
I have to say I was disappointed with “Tropic Thunder”, too. It wasn’t a complete failure but no way did it deserve an IMDb ranking of 7.8 and the number one spot at the U.S. box office. What’s it with comedies these days anyways? Some get so much praise, but are mediocre at best. I’m especially thinking of all those Judd Apatow movies:
The 40 Year Old Virgin… boring and vulgar, but in an unfunny way.
Knocked Up… okay at best, but nothing to write home about
Superbad… this one was actually quite funny
Walk Hard… I so wished this would be great, but it sucked ASS!
Forgetting Sarah Marshall… again just okay. My main problem with all these films is there are scenes in them that drag on and on and on, and the dialog is supposed to be funny, but it’s not. It’s just shitty.
Haven’t seen Pineapple Express, yet, but I’m pretty sure it won’t live up to the good reviews it’s gotten, either.

I think Nicholas Cage is alright - an Oscar winner, no less. He just makes some staggeringly shit movie choices! He was great in ‘Raising Arizona’ (I know that was 20 years ago), ‘Adaptation’ and ‘Matchstick Men’. But for every one of those there’s at least a ‘National Treasure’…
