It’s not that they are promising as such, but they are the “underdog” team and anyone from the other three provinces does feel some support for them deep down ;)

Worth watching though, play their wee hearts out every time. And their jersey aint too bad either!

CS,you can be proud of your team ,great defence and and very efficient they were  …They scored 5 tries…I especially loved the Cave’s and Trimble’s ones (very brilliant) and the fourth one is was nice too as it was scored on a kind “Stade Français” style :D ,and that guy (Ferris) seems to be promising…I hope they won’t play that way against Paris the next 24th of January :P ,seems that they have improved since the “go” game …Will you come up to Jean Bouin Stadium that day with your m8 to stand for your team ?

Hi Evilbeast, was a great performance from Ulster. No doubt the Munster fans will be saying that they lost ROG after a short while, no POC, etc.

Unfortunately, I won’t be travelling to France this year, have some school exams all through January, and I’ve promised myself to work towards them!

Ferris is an excellent player. Fastest player in Ireland over 60 metres, and he’s 16 or 17 stone, absolute monster! Yet one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met!

Should be an interresting game vs. Stade. We’re finding some form, stade are pretty much out of HEC if I’m correct (haven’t checked tables or stats!), and our back row is shaping up to be one of the best in Europe (Ferris at 6, Pollock showing great leadership and has matured well at 7, and our new guy Robbie Diack at 8). Diack has been a great signing for us, as has Ed O’Donoghue - who initially came here as a squad player, but is surely now one of the first names on the team sheet.
Notable mention also to BJ Botha - our new tighthead. What a player. Has absolutely torn up the Magners League, and, as I’m sure you seen tonight, demolished the Munster front row!
Tom Court is also coming along very well, while Justin Fitzpatrick, who is 35, and has been easily one of the most consistent loosehead props in the Magners League this season.
How well did Ulster hooker Nigel Brady play tonight? Made some storming breaks, hit some rucks well, good throws in the lineouts and almost stormed in for a try! Has given Matt Williams to think about the next game, he definitely played very well until Rory came on!

Hi Colin and sorry for the late reply…Yeah the Ulster forward’s pack seems to be good as they resisted (and more indeed ) against one of the most powerfull one in Europe even though O’connell,Leamy,David Wallace and Horan missed,as I didn’t know much of the squad so I didn’t pay much attention, sorry, to one player in Particularly except’ Ferris, but the scrumming was very good, they can annoy,in 2 weeks the Stade’s pack, which is not efficient all the time and regular and our best prop (Rodrigo Roncero is still banned…) and yeah the throwings were good whereas one of our hooker,Dimitri Szarzewski is sometime called “Pizzaiolo” ( Pizzas’ thrower…).

About the HEC,As Stade fucked the 2 games against the London Harlequins : for the “go game”,We had the ball in hands during the total length of the game and I still don’t know how we lost it…for the “retun one”,which was tougher,we had a bad “management” of the game, since we leaded the score most of the time,Our local “playboy” ,as Open half,Juan Martin Hernandez made really bad choices especially at the end with, his bad foot kicking …Lionel Beauxis missed a lot for our team as his foot kicking is more powerfull and has great precision…but Mathematically,we’re not “out” yet,but I’m not optimistic…We’ll wait and see at the end of the Pools ’ games…

Ah a pity your lots lost against Edimbhurg (15-21 or so)on friday night ,but I didn’t see the game…I hope they ‘ll smash the Queers…Euh no sorry the Quins’ :P up and be merciless towards them next week at Ravenhill next week .

Wasn’t O’Kelly, twas Shane Jennings!

Quote (author unknown):

The Irish Rugby Football Union Disciplinary Panel held an appeal hearing this evening, Thursday, 15th January 2009 to hear an appeal by Leinster flanker Shane Jennings.
Jennings received a three week suspension for striking Connacht second row Andrew Farley during the second half of the Leinster v Connacht Magners League game.
The three man IRFU Appeal Committee found that under the Magners League Tournament Rules and particularly the Disciplinary Rules therein that no jurisdiction is given to a disciplinary committee to investigate a citing complaint of a citing commissioner appointed under those rules.
As a result the appeal of Shane Jennings is allowed and the suspension lifted. Shane Jennings is free to play from this point on.

If I’m correct, Fogarty also got off lightly on a citing.
If the Unions want to cut the dirty, unfair, dangerous and wreckless play then they should actually enforce tough, lengthy bans, as well as fines for the players who commit the offence.
Getting off for striking another player is unacceptable in my eyes.

Evilbeast, all the Ulster lads are well up for it. We know Stade may not be interrested as they’re out, so we’re hoping for a win on French soil!

Also Lenny, I just recieved, in the post today, a copy of Munster vs. Ulster - 3rd January 2009, at Thomond Park.

However, Malcolm O’Kelly has been cited for that stamp:

Quote (author unknown):

Malcolm O’Kelly, the Leinster lock (No 5), is due to appear before an independent Disciplinary Committee in Dublin on Thursday, 22 January…
… as a result of a citing arising from the Round 5 Heineken Cup Pool 2 match against London Wasps at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday, 17 January, 2009.

The citing lodged by the Citing Commissioner for the match, Aurwel Morgan (Wales) is for an alleged stamp on London Wasps player Phil Vickery (No 3) in contravention of Law 10.4 (b).

The independent Disciplinary Committee will be chaired by Rod McKenzie (Scotland) and will also comprise Jean-Etienne Bernard (France) and Robert Williams (Wales)

Law 10.4 (b) - Stamping or trampling: A player must not stamp or trample on an opponent.

I don’t think the Stade staff will prepare this game on a light way,and Max, the Stade Prez, cannot stand to see his team play like Juniors for several following games..I think he “breathes in their lung” this week and they have to prepare seriously a big game for the French championship at le “Stade de France” versus Dan Carter and Perpignan next week…So facing Ulster will be a good test or “training game” and they have to show their fans some self-esteem after this pathetic HEC campaign…

Ah I’ve just received my tickets for France-Wales for the 6 nations Tournament,I will have the opportunity again to appreciate Mr Henson’s suntan :D
