I’d take Richey’s “average” lyrics over Nicky Wire’s efforts ANY day.

He was the soul of the band…just like Richey.
Sid was a 5 minute poster boy at best.
And, y’know, a bit of a violent junk induced murdering cunt. But folk forget that.

I agree - Sid looked the part, is all.
He had naff all to do with the ethos of the band, although I’d argue that only Lydon ever HAD a decent grasp of that. Sid just wanted to stand there sneering and twirling his chain around aggressively, which for 2 minutes in 1977 may have been worth seeing, but in hindsight is hardly the work of a genius.

Sid blinded someone as well by lobbing a glass at them, I think. Nancy was a nasty piece of work as well.

No, they’re more likely to shout “fucking hell, what a fat cunt!!!” these days.

Which neatly brings us back on topic, cos that sounds like a manics lyric. From a b side maybe, but still..

Really…?
That’s really sad… It must be such a horrible thing to go through, I can’t begin to imagine.
I wonder if there’s any particular reason why they have chosen to do it now…?

I was wondering why they have chosen to do this now, but looking at the date, in a month’s time Richey wold have been 40 - maybe they wanted to get it all wrapped up by then?
Or maybe his parents are short of cash and his family have decided to free up the money? I don’t say that as a bad thing, by the way. I don’t consider that to be mercenary or anything, just a bit of a sad thing to have to do, if indeed they have had to. Pure speculation on my part, I should add.
