Ross Robinson. He’s a prick. I’ve never heard one album produced by him that I like. The best he produced was probably “The Burning Red” by Machine Head. The worst was the Vanilla Ice “comeback” album. A man who works with Vanilla Ice should not be allowed to even clean Robert Smith’s toilet.

jerry finn should be kept away from morrissey and ross robinson should definitely be kept away from the cure. i can see two of my favourite artists/bands (morrissey and the cure that is) being made unforgiveably shit by all this nu-metal/nu-punk nonsense. it must stop now! robert smith seems to finally understand how the cure should go now which is a good thing. “bloodflowers” was fucking great, don’t fuck it up bob. and morrissey, don’t let any “fad” influence you, you never did before. and that people, is why morrissey and the cure are great.

On the other hand, wouldn’t it be fun hearing Morrissey sing:
“Heaven knows I’m miserable now, what’s my age again?”

I’m too desperate to critize it.
How crap it may be.
Its the songs that count…and i don’t think a producer touches whyte/boorer/moz stuff.
Can’t wait!

Agreed. Terrible terrible producer. Rick Rubin not far behind.

then again deloused by mars volta sounds good but he coproduced with omar and one of the other members i believe.

I’m not a big Rick fan but I disagree that he butchered Slipknot. Until he came along there was virtually no melody in slipknot. I much prefer their sound now.

Well, ive never heard any of his albums that has any clarity. Its always a muddy mush, with a really narrow stereo field.

I just recently heard Roots by Sepultura for the first time, which I believe is another Ross Robinson production…? Some very Slipknot-esque aspects to it, especially the vocals - I think he really pushes vocalists to scream harder than they normally would, which isn’t to my own personal taste, but hey. I’m not sure if a producer should have their own sound at all anyway, shouldn’t they work to get each individual band’s best sound out of them? Or am I being naive?
