This might have been answered elsewhere, but does anyone have any idea as to whether the download single (Crooked Timber?) is going to be made available before the album release?

I need another new song to keep me going!!

Glad they’re gonna do a ‘proper’ music video again. But will it have the return of that Diane/Loose chick in it again? She may need work. You never know… ?

The MySpace page is streaming the full version of The Head That Tried To Strangle Itself and it is a belter, by my reckoning, it should be a single or E.P. lead track.

Y’know, I’m really getting into this track now…what a groove! Barely restrained all the way through, I love it.

Umm, dunno if anyone answered you or not but the single is available to download from play.com. I found it when looking for the pre-order page thing for the album. Think it’s something like 67p to download it. Bargain!

Why not? If it’s being released as a single, why would they wait until the album release date to allow you to buy it?

Best price i’ve seen so far is HMV for £9.99 (and 50p back if you go through quidco) - its a quid less than play.

I assume play will knock it down to 8.99 before the release or whatever like they always do.

I’ll crack up if they do. The reason I signed up with them is because the shops would no doubt be selling it for £15 or something rediculous. didn’t think I’d get it much cheaper than £10.99.

plays prices have been creeping up and their standard of service slowly creeping down. I tend not to use them as first choice any more.

Damn, should’ve asked around a bit more. I only asked one person who said their service was really good. I think I did read somewhere though that if the price drops before the release date then you get it at the reduced price. No doubt the price will drop the day after!

For having posted confirmation of receiving a copy of Crooked Timber on here, I have been asked to return my copy.

Seriously?! With all due respect, but that’s just ridiculous.

Return the copy… what a punishment! What were they thinking? That you couldn’t just rip the thing as soon as you got it? Or are they just short on promo copies and desperately need this one back?

Come on, even IF you had been posing (which you clearly weren’t), this is the kind of Lars Ulrich-behavior that really dislodges the people that you don’t want to piss off: the most loyal fans.

I guess I’ll better stop or I’ll be asked to return “Troublegum” and “Semi-Detached”.

Ach, I think its some way off Lars Ulrich behaviour to be honest.

Besides, as far as I know, despite promo copies floating around for a month or so now, the album still hasn’t been leaked yet, so the band must be doing something right.

I seem to remember that OCFA was leaked well before this stage. I guess they had their fingers burned then and (understandably) want to keep things watertight this time round.

Which is fair play… and pretty surprising they’ve pulled it off so long, with such a big gap between finishing the record and the release date.

@Superunknown, am I going mad or did you quote TRM from another thread? Just wondered as I can’t see his original post anywhere. I guess I can see both sides of the argument though. Not that I’m saying he would, but because TRM said he has the album, someone could bribe him and he might copy it for them on the fly. Might get into the wrong hands etc. It’s a fickle business. But yeah, it’s a bit shitty asking for the CD to be sent back. Not really sure what to make of that.

We all know how much the promo copies go for on ebay… especially a month before release.

I think they have every right to ask for the copy back, if they suspect they have been duped into releasing it to someone who they thought was going to promote the album in the press… I guess it doesn’t matter in the end as Mike explained that there was a mix up and he’s keeping it anyway.

MY GOD! What an album :D Worth every penny upon release, and probably your firstborn for Clowns Galore alone. This is up there with SP-YF and Troublegum.

Awesome. Can’t wait to hear it !

How’s the mixing, mastering ? is it quite big and commercial like troublegum, infernal love and semi detached ( and shameless )

Or does it have the kind of boxy mastering such as NANE, HA and OCFA ?

I know it’s hard to tell for sure on a MySpace site, but I’d say The Head…sounds like it has a much improved sound and mix compared to OCFA.
Don’t you think?

It’s interesting that there are 3 songs approaching the 6 minute mark, and Magic Mountain is 10 minutes long! Would it be correct to say they’ve gone for a lot of tempo and time changes, ala “Skinning Pit”?
