Paradise Lost?

#

Started by msd

I’m curious how many goth/rock/metallers are in here? I like a bit of that stuff, particularly Paradise Lost (I’m a regular on their message board).

So, what do you think? Like the heavier stuff? Loathe it?

My favourites in the genre are PL, My Dying Bride, Anathema, and Katatonia.

For the record, I mainly like electro/rock type stuff (NIN, Sneaker Pimps, Muse, Radiohead, Curve, New Order, Depeche Mode) as well as electronica like Orbital, Leftfield, Portishead etc.

Cheers

Also others you mentioned. I must listen some more old Anathema stuff. I only got their latest and Eternity. Any recommendations?
Oh…try Tiamat as well.

Cool! Not that I’m trying to poach members from this board, but you should come over to the PL board sometime. Everyone gets a friendly hello ;) At first, anyway :D

Anathema? The albums in between the two you mentioned are definitely their best - “Alternative 4” (1998) and “Judgement” (2000).

PARADISE LOST, ANATHEMA, MY DYING BRIDE, CARADLE OF FILTH.

Fuckin’ love ‘em all.
I have almost everything from them all.

COF, Dusk Coffin Box & Pic disc. Cruelty Celtic Cross & Pic disc. Midian Leather digipack and the rest.

All Anathema albums and ALL FAITH IS LOST DEMO and, THEY DIE and WE ARE THE BIBLE 7”s. They are also the best live band I have ever seen. They played for over 2 hours in Dublin last Xmas. 24 songs.

PL, I have all the albums, Pic disks and singles.

MDB, I have all the albums, EP’s.
Going to see them tomorrow night in Dublin, actually.

Basically I’m fuckin’ mad about the lot of ‘em.

I think the last good PL album was Icon, they haven’t released a decent album in a very long time. I do not listen to them anymore.
As for Cathedral, they still exist as far as i know. But they sound too much like Black Sabbath nowadays.

Emperor - Yep, love ‘em. I don’t listen to any other really heavy stuff apart from them, but they really stand out in the genre. “In the Nightside Eclipse” is one of the most atmospheric albums I’ve ever heard.

Title: Kerbdog / Wilt

Yeah, Kerbdog were class. I’ve got all their stuff, b-sides etc… Wilt’s new album is pretty good, it sounds heavier and more aggressive than Bastinado. But, that wouldn’t be hard since Bastinado was shite.

Although the acoustic tracks on the Ltd. Edition version with the bonus CD were pretty cool!!!

Ditto!, Snap! to the Kerbdog b-sides.
Also have ‘em all. I love the version they do of BIG BLACK’s Kerosene.
Every time I put it on I want to smash things….

Kerosene? Nah, never really liked that one! Kinda goes on too long. Xenphobia was cool, maybe should have been on the first album. Coverwise, I loved “This is not a love song” by PiL. “Mr. Clean” was cool as well, I think that was by The Jam, but could’ve been Style Council. Whatever, it was definately Paul Weller anyway!
