hm, correct me if i’m wrong, but isn’t it a rather good sign that a more AOR-orientated site doesn’t quite know what to do with that album?
it used to be like that in the 90’s anyway. the most “conservative rock” - guys didn’t get just what it was that made soundgarden, nirvana, pumpkins, (add your fav. alternative band here) was all about …

I’m really not a fan of The Head that tried to Strangle itself since they released it on myspace but listening to the previews on Amazon.. Clowns Galore sounds excellent music wise, if a little repetitive but still very nice. The lyrics are good and It seems odd to hear andy with an Irish accent which I’ve never noticed before but it definitely works to it’s advantage and gives it more character. Exiles sounds Grade-A AWESOME! Very strong, gnarly and chaotic. The vocals are awesome too.
Gonna cut this short cos don’t wanna ramble:
Thumbs up for Crooked Timber and I told you I was ill, again good vocals and lyrics and music that gives a good atmosphere and feeling to the song.
LOVE the bass on Sonambulist, not so sure about the vocals/lyrics which are “ok” but I feel i’ve heard them before in Semi Detached.
Blacken the Page is another one with great music, I can feel the back of my neck getting hot and my hairs standing up.
I feel like my lucks running out and a bad song will come along any moment.. Magic Mountain sounds good so far but really REALLY want to know what happens after that little preview bit.
Oooh Bad Excuse for Daylight is really nice too!
So, this looks/sounds like a great album! I’m gonna put a pre-order in for it! :-)

I can honestly say that last review is, in my opinion, just another in a very, VERY long line of reviews from people who have absolutely no idea how to write them. Still, it made me chuckle :p
I love that Andy is using a more natural accent than he was before. A few friends of mine who are also big T? fans have said he’s always sung with an Irish accent but I just don’t hear it on the older stuff. Is it just me?
I haven’t listened to the samples yet, and I won’t. I want the full on new album experience!! :D

The one track that always sticks in my mind for Andy’s accent is Totally Random Man - the way he sings “Understand me” in the chorus.

I suppose the “understand me” part does have a slight twang to it, but only the “under” part. Stand is still pronounced like “stend”, almost American, but not quite. The line from Rock You Monkeys never really jumped out at me either to be honest. I think I’m the only person who never thought Andy sounded even remotely Irish :/

the previews sound great for me except maybe enjoy the struggle, magic mountain and bad excuse for daylight, but the samples are probably out of context with the songs anyway. exiles sounds brilliant.

Hmmmm, anyone know where the cheapest place for the vinyl is, amazon has it at 13, but they charge for delievery so it’ll come to over £15. if I cant get the vinyl any cheaper, I’ll buy it on vinyl and download as mp3 for Ipod listening, if I can get the vinyl slightly cheaper i’ll get the cd too.

Heres hoping the T? lads can pull off something special with this album!

I put also both versions on order from Global music, both shipped to Finland for something like 27 euros. Only drawback is the later release date of the vinyl, but I guess I can wait for it.

whilst your waiting for this album I recomend the band Kylesa they seem to be doing a similar thing and doing a damn good job at it, they have a new cd out monday only 8.99 on play. I was going to order it from their record label 20 dollars with a free tshirt and also get the vinyl for like 10 bucks but then I remembered the pound isnt as strong as it was a few months ago and found out the postage was 13 dollars.
