I had/have:

Atari 2600
C64
Snes
PC -> various incarnations. Lowest 286, currently still an Athlon XP
Sega Saturn -> bought when it was released in Europe. I told myself it would be worth it for the CD-playing capabilities, I didn’t have a standalone player back then. Of course I ended up using the console mostly for games, because turning of the TV just to listen to those Cds wasn’t really satisfying.

Playstation -> bought because of Final Fantasy Tactics, ever since the Snes I made sure my consoles could play imports.
Playstation 2
Sega Dreamcast - > bought second-hand mostly to play beat’em ups.
Gamecube -> originally belonging to my sister, but she upgraded to Wii.

Handhelds: GB and GBC. Also bought a used Ngage.

Nothing beats Nintendo, that’s true!! :-D
But I did like Sega a lot, I don’t understand why the Dreamcast was such a failure, that still is a wonderfull machine!

Both saturn and dreamcast were great machines, they were never marketed properly.

Dreamcast was the first machine to have online capabilities and a web browser - it was years ahead of its time!

Shit - i’d forgotten about that.

Sega were quite a forward thinking company, wasn’t the Mega CD the first cd based games console (did it beat EA’s ill fated 3DO?)

It was the start of Sega’s console downfall - was a good machine, the games were impressive for their time, but it was really expensive and they didn’t support it with a great many games.

They then released the 32X expansion which allowed 3d rendered games like virtua fighter and virtua racing to be played - which was amazing what they were getting out of the megadrive… but they didn’t support it with many games… then the saturn came out… you know the rest :(

It’s a sad story, they had the knowledge… It’s even more sad than what they’re doing to Sonic nowadays. They let Sonic Team ruin him, while Dimps could do him real honor!
As for other games I think Sega is doing pretty well. House Of The Dead Overkill is amazing, if not a bit too simple. Madworld is said to be as good as expected but I didn’t buy it yet. The Megadrive Collection is the best retro-collection I’ve ever played. I fear a bit for The Conduit though…
