Question regarding Semi-Detached

#

Started by MadSauce

Hi everyone,

I’ve been a Therapy? fan for years, but the only cd I never got round to buying was semi-detached. Recently I finally picked up a copy of the internet, but when it was delivered I noticed that the booklet (or front inlay or whatever you call it) appeared to be made out of `ordinary’ paper, not the glossy stuff you normally get with a cd. I don’t quite remember whether this is correct or or not, and I like to know whether I have been ripped off? Can any of you tell me what the booklet is supposed to be made out of?

Thnx!!!

Yes it has a matt finish, not a glossy photo paper kind of thing.

Mine is embossed with a “first day of release”* stamp with a gemil on too.

(*before someone corrects me, I am doing this from memory, so it’s either a “first day” or “first week” stamp - I forget the details)

My booklet is printed on glossy paper, but my boyfriend’s copy ‘s got the matt finish as well.

I always liked the matt finish to it, was one of the first albums I owned that had it.

mine is matt, and I didn’t know that there was a stamp, so ebay here I come.

Which way round does everyone have it? faces right way up or writing right way up?

Out of interest, is there a value or a demand among collectors for the embossed versions of this underated album. I doubt very much that these (if they are on the market) would go as far as three figures, but interested none the less

Yes there is!! I’d love to have an embossed version… I’m looking for it for quit a while but can’t find it! In my search for it, I did find the things they used to emboss the sleeves with, quite a cool item to have, but pretty useless :-)
I bought mine on the day of the release though, but there were no embossed versions in Belgium :-(

The embossed/stamped singles are easy to find, the album is a pain in the ass.

All my Semi Detached era stuff is stamped courtesy of Action Records in Preston!

I actually caught the bus to go and buy the stuff from there on day of release - was a good job I was a student at the time and missing lectures was no big deal :)

Do some CD releases of Church Of Noise also have the stamp, or was it just the 7” vinyl release..?
