I prefer when bands play a lot of b-sides or album tracks, rather than the same hits over and over. And these whole album shows are a nice change too.

I’ve seen Helmet play “Meantime” song by song… backwards. Which was kinda odd.
Unfortunately, I’ve missed the Lemonheads when they were playing the whole of “It’s A Shame About Ray”. (Got to see a solo acoustic show by Evan Dando in Munich recently. That was pretty cool.)
And, yeah, I also saw Metallica play “Master Of Puppets”, which only underlined my conviction, that they have “lost it”.
As for albums I’d love to see played from start to finish:
Weezer’s blue album and “Pinkerton”.
Therapy? - Any album from “Troublegum” to “SPYF”
FNM - Angel Dust and KFADFFAL
Radiohead - The Bends and OK Computer

the only ones i have seen that i can think of are JFPL on the recent tour and suede playing a new morning in it’s entirety just before it came out. and, like gav, i saw blur on the singles tour they did.
i would have loved to gone to see the cure trilogy (pornography/disintegration/bloodflowers) shows they did a while back in berlin.
ideally, i would like the following, none of which are ever going to happen:
mansun - six
bowie - the rise and fall of ziggy stardust
DM - violator / SOFAD
pulp - his n hers / different class / this is hardcore
the more i think about it though, sometimes playing whole albums takes a lot of the excitement out of a gig as you know exactly what to expect. it has to be something very special to make it great. i have seen countless pink floyd tribute acts playing TDSOTM and once animals and even though it is great stuff, there is no spark at all.
but of course the ultimate one would be the holy bible by the manics.

I would have loved to have seen Metallica do the whole of Master Of Puppets. The only full album set I’ve seen is American Idiot by Green Day in Hammersmith. The Yo-Yo’s did as good as a full album set at the Garage in Highbury but I believe a B-side or two were fitted in after the first five songs to stop it being a full album recital per se.
Interestingly enough regarding MoP, I read recently that Dream Theater have done gigs of their own and then come back for full (other band) encores, including Master Of Puppets, The Number Of The Beast, Dark Side Of The Moon and Made In Japan…

Oh, I forgot. I also saw Lou Reed do “Berlin” as a whole. Boring as shit.

Actually, I tell a lie - I saw Less Than Jake perform six albums in six nights. What struck me about that experience was that after a song ended, often there would be a hush until the opening chords of the next song were played and people worked out what song was next before going bonkers. Perhaps this is an indictment of the internet generation: MP3 players are set to random playlists and people aren’t playing albums from start to finish, in order, any more…
