Therapy? remix album

#

Started by Theng

This was posted recently on the BongRa website:

“Bong-Ra to remix Therapy?
Yep, will be remixing the 90s screamo band Therapy? for a remix compilation they are to release next year.”

Screamo??????

Anyway BongRa is a pretty rad Dutch DnB, Jungle, Breakcore, Rave whatnot producer.

Does anyone know more of this? Will there be only new remixes or is it going to be part compilation as well?

Suggestions maybe for other remix artists?

cheers

More bands should do the remix stuff that NIN have been doing, making the parts available for anyone that wants to make their own. I’d love to do a T? remix.

I disagree. LESS bands should do it. Nothing more boring than a remix.

surely they get bar9 or burial to do a remix or someone similar, id love o hear a dubstep remix by someone with spaceape making a guest appearence, the band seem to be into dubstep so surely a dubstep remix?

great thing with most dubstep producers is that theyre remixrs add a new dimension to a song or take it to a new place (and make it quite trippy and interesting) instead of making it unrecognizable eg :

People these days seem to think REMIX means taking the original vocal and sticking a trance track over it.. But to re - mix a song means to take whats already there and mess around with it.. I’ve heard far too many ” remixes ” which contain nothing from the original track.

The US version of the Holy Bible for instance is a remix, but tell that to Joe Bloggs and he’d be like ” wheres all the house beats ? “

Aha, yes folks there are some remixes of “Crooked Timber” songs being done, the mighty Bong-Ra indeed feeling up one of them. It’s very early days and as yet we haven’t decided what the concept/theme/release date/release format is. So let’s all be cool and when we know where we’re at, we’ll let you know.

i dont mind remixes if it sounds like the origional song, but a bit different

i dont like it when they butcher a song, fill it with techno beats and label it as the same song when its clearly not

Was it aphex twin who forgot to do a remix for someone so just grabbed a random cd and gave it to them and it got released?

He never forgot, he just sent in an original track called At The Heart Of It All for Nine Inch Nails’ Further Down The Spiral album. Good track.

This could be really ace. Andy talked about the dubstep influence on Exiles, so it could to get those tracks re worked in that way.

Let burial remix bad excuse for daylight i reckon.

maybe let someone who does dubstep less experimental and more ‘clubby’ like rusko attempt exiles.

sorted.

on the subject of 2manydjs has anyone ever heard girltalk? he does the mashup thing miles better, what he does is actually create new songs out of samples of others, each track he does has at least 12 other songs included, really worth checking out.

I’m not a fan at all of remixes - If i was into dance i’d go buy a dance CD, trying to make sense of my favourite rock songs when some dj has messed with them is frustrating.

Remix albums are so 1990’s, but why would anyone want an album full of them - they were done as an excuse for extra tracks on CD singles and b-sides, and had no relation (mostly) to the original track.

That’s it really, I would also have to check the songs before I purchase. I loved the Cashier No. 9 remix that was on this site though I never heard the original. If this does come to fruition, I hope it’s an interesting mix from Therapy?’s career with some more recent stuff remixed and/or some B-sides reworked.

I gotta say the recent talk of a remix album and a live album (both of which seem like they will actually happen), has left me fairly cold. I’m not a fan of either idea, the only really good Therapy? remix being the superb Unsane mix of Teethgrinder, while haven’t we already gotten a live album with the Scopophobia dvd?

Re-issues of the Wiiija albums, yes. Remix and live albums, no. Having said that though, I’d still buy them of course! :-)

I don’t have much interest in remixes either. A live album is always potentially good though - but I guess a live DVD works better.

Re-issues of Babyteeth and Pleasure Death would be awesome - I really hope that happens.
In fact, I wouldn’t mind special editions of all the albums, with the original album (re-mastered) on one disc, and then all the b-sides, out-takes, demos etc on a 2nd disc :-)

how about a babyteeth/pleasure death box set. Caucasian Psychosis 2009. disk 1 - both albums remastered, Disk 2 - live tracks and demos, Disk 3 - DVD featuring the never before seen meat abstract video, any footage they can track down from back then, and maybe the band in a small venue at an intimate gig performing both mini albums or failing that a live in the studio type of thing?

i dont ask for much :p
