its alright so i won’t be sending off a letter of disgust. its with the 3 singers and greg, all sitting around talking about times gone by and the fact that they haven’t listened to either of their records since the early 90’s. Greg said he went up to the singer in Lacuna Coil, the female one as the male guy cannot sing, years ago after he heard the song Fragile Dreams and was goin on to her about how good he thought the song on, she had to tell him it was Anathema.

Ya those germans can be a subdued lot. I was really excited when i went to see PL in Koln for the SOL launch because i thought it would be like the Harmony Breaks gig but it wasn’t to be. Still think you should go, you may regret it when you are sitting in that night cutting your toenails and watching clips of GW on youtube

I’s have loved to see them on that tour, they were on fire back then. I saw them on the DT tour, it was a poor gig to be honest. Shit sound and a bad turn out.

it was weird alright. they have only been back over here twice since. they never pull huge crowds for some reason. Last time the played here was towards the end of the SOL tour, great gig

I don’t know what it is exactly, if anything Ireland and Nothern gloom are perfectly matched. I suppose the kids seem to be more attracted to US bands for what ever reason. I don’t get it personally, the vast majority of US bands in my view have nothing to say to Ireland and the UK bar the Seattle bands.

Grim Reaper (bog standard euro metal).

Scald (crusty punk/grind/black/ambient) … never the same thing twice. Quite good IMO.

Celtic Legacy (Maiden, Lizzy type metal) … I like ‘em.

For Ruin (Melodic Death) … From Cork. Quality band. Great live. New album in a few months.

Sinocence (Machine Head type metal, but cleaner vocals) … Good stuff. New album coming out also!

PARADISE LOST – Promise new album to contain music to be murdered by… - 15th Dec 2008
Gothic metal icons PARADISE LOST are currently preparing the recordings for their highly anticipated follow-up to 2007’s extremely successful “In Requiem”. Vocalist Nick Holmes comments as follows:

“The album as yet untitled will feature around 10 tracks, among the titles are “First Light”, “As Horizons End”, “Faith Divides Us, Death Unites Us”, “Frailty” & “My Last Regret” - these are subject to change without notice!

We are very happy with Rhys Fulbers work on the last album [“In Requiem”], but after working on 3 albums together we decided it was time to go for a different approach. After hearing the work he did with our “Anatomy Of Melancholy” Live DVD we decided that Jens Bogren was the man for the job. In February we will venture to Sweden to begin recording the album in Fascination Street Studios, Örebro, Sweden.

There is no full time replacement for Jeff as yet, but as far as the album is concerned, the drum stool will be occupied by another Swede - Peter Damin. Sweden hails some of the best metal musicians in the world and Peter is no exception, we really look forward to working with him and his input on the album.

Our approach this time has leaned even more towards the heavier side of things, even more so than the last. It is vital not to lose touch with our musical trip over the last 20 years. Our music may have had different facelifts, but it has always been “dark” and the new album will be no exception. Musically and lyrically.

Writing a new album is always exciting, we never get bored of writing music, and for me, it is the best part of being in a band. Each album is like a challenge to better ourselves, or at the very least, do something that’s different to everyone else. We strive to make the ultimate modern Gothic Metal album, and for me that has nothing to do with the common trend of “romance” & “roses”. It should be music to be murdered by.”

For sure. It is great to see them back to form as it looked like they were dying back in the early 2000’s.
