nat Ex - take you the weekend just to get here but should be cheap.

I think FirstBus have launched a competing service - so that might work out cheap

This Saturday, DAMNATION FESTIVAL 2009 will see explosive sets from Life of Agony, Therapy? and Lock-Up bursting ear-drums… And one lucky fan will leave with a Jackson guitar for their trouble!

Thanks to our friends at Reverb, we’re offering you guys the chance to win the brand new six-string at Damnation. What’s more, the raffle will be completely FREE to enter!

The guitar that stands to be won is worth nearly £200. The Jackson JS1 Dinky Electric Guitar is Jackson’s best value Dinky-style axe. It features a 22-jumbo-fret rosewood fingerboard, 2 humbucker pickups, vintage fulcrum-style tremolo, a volume and tone control, and 3-way toggle switch. And it could be yours!

I hope by some miracle a decent recording comes out of this. I get the feeling it’s going to be a pretty interesting set, and I’m sorry I won’t be there to see/hear it for myself.

Was a good night, they played (not in order) at least :

Rust
Bad Excuse For Daylight
Fantasy Bag
Punishment Kiss
Exiles
Crooked Timber
Innocent X
Rain Hits Concrete
Turn
Screamager
Teethgrinder
Isolation (she’s lost control)

I think - feel free to correct me folks

Electric Wizard were pretty good but had terrible sound,
Anathema were not the best that I’ve seen em but were still good.
Life Of Agony were brilliant - played almost all of River Runs Red.

Met up with Hooch again and met Daryl for the first time - top people! roll on Monday!

That list looks about right to me. The people next to me suddenly got very animated when Teethgrinder was played, mellowed out for a little bit and then got really excited by Screamager…
Excellent gig; I had a big happy grin on my face for most of it, I think. Where I was standing, Andy’s vocals were peaking and distorting quite a bit (several instances of all the people I could see simultaneously wiggling a finger in one ear, hehe), but apart from that the sound was immense. Amazing bass! :D

Hmmm - the set list maybe wasn’t quite as exciting as I expected. In a Download interview I’m sure they said (or at least implied) that they’d be playing a lot of stuff off Suicide Pact, and other darker songs. Still, I bet they rocked all the same :-)
