That got great reviews. I have no idea why.

A couple of really bad movies I saw quite recently were Terminator Salvation and Cutthroats (mid-90s pirate thing). They’re both crap.
Jason X is probably the worst movie I’ve seen at the cinema. So bad it was quite funny though.
I didn’t mind Weather Man at all, although the camel toe stuff was totally unnecessary.

T3 was fun, I liked it. Salvation had about the worst bunch of actors ever gathered for one movie, woodenly reading lines from a script which I really hope was a first draft and was OK’d without anyone bothering to read through it (if not, and they actually put some effort into the script then I seriously worry for them). Other than the high budget CGI it felt more like a crappy American sci-fi TV show than a major movie.

I haven’t seen the S-Club 7 movie, but I suppose there is a chance that it could be worse than Terminator Salvation. T3 was way, way better than Salvation though - I think a score of 1/10 for Salvation is a fair score, so I really don’t think things could be much worse. It really did seem like a film written and acted by talentless school boys who somehow found multi-million dollar funding.

I know the world seemed to love Lost In Translation - I didn’t say it was ‘bad’ - I just didn’t get it I guess. Perhaps too intellectual for me lol - I like being entertained and that didn’t entertain me :-D

I liked it as well. Though, being essentially plotless, I can understand why others didn’t. I thought Bill Murray’s performance was both hilarious and nuanced.

I totally agree with Fiona and Sarah about Lost in Translation. I have a few friends whose tastes are similar to mine and loved it but I just found it really boring. Some of the cinematography was good but any decent plot, characters, dialogue, humour, meaning etc. all seemed to be lacking in my opinion. Clearly not something I should have bothered going to the cinema to see. The other film my friends loved and told me I would love but didn’t is Donnie Darko. Am I alone in not enjoying that film?
Obviously neither are the worst film I’ve seen though. Competitors for that title which spring to mind immediately are:
-Speed 2, Cruise Control
-Tape
-Mission Impossible 2
-Blair Witch Project

I actually rather liked MI 2, but the rest of your list is very spot on. A film that springs to mind that garnered great reviews, award noms, etc. that really did nothing for me was Gosford Park. It was okay, I guess, but I didn’t see what the fuss was all about.

Both solely focus on relationships of characters I didn’t like or care about and seemed to think they were very deep but I didn’t understand why. The awfulness of Matchpoint was particularly upsetting as it’s a Woody Allen film and Woody Allen used make great films. What was he thinking?
I guess at least stuff like MI2 isn’t pretending to be deep. I’ve seen Gosford Park but I don’t remeber it very well which probably means I was fairly indifferent to it.

I have difficulties thinking up an equally crappy movie, though there was one I forgot the title of. It’s about a bunch of women who all want to commit suicide and it’s about some writer or other. But it had good parts and is in no way as bullshitty as CA’s was.

Do you mean The Hours and the writer Virginia Woolf? I haven’t ever got round to seeing it despite having every intention of doing so.
Nor have I seen Charlie’s Angels but I’ve no desire to.

There seem to be so many classic horror type films that have been remade now. I’m not personally a big fan of the genre (although I have seen the original Wickerman) but it still annoys me; just seems like a blatently futile, artless, money making exercise.

But speaking of pretentious piles of crap, what about that Bob Dylan biopic-mess “I’m Not There?”

Yeah, the Hours. I suppose it could work for once but it’s not a movie that’s interesting enough to see more than once.
Charlie’s Angels was such crap that I’m still wondering why I didn’t shut the tele off - it was probably because my sister was watching it. Still she didn’t like it either, I suppose. John Cleese actually makes an appearance and all he gets to do the whole movie long is looking like a surprised tard, making it so even he can’t still make something of it or get some good parts in.
