i may be going. i parked my austrian ass in frankfurt for the next few months and it’s not that far …

we arrived in freiburg around lunchtime. it was a rainy day, but still we fell in love with this beautiful little city within minutes! we brought our stuff to the youth hostel (black forest hostel - nice place!) and then went for a walk in the beautiful old town of freiburg. after a tasty lunch in an italien restaurant we went past the McDonalds and saw Neil, standing in line … haha. we didn’t want to disturb him while he was having his lunch so we rather hit a cd-store to check if the had Therapy? there. and yes, 3 crooked timber albums were in stock and I put them to the first rows of the shelf, right before them crooked vultures and tool. haha. love those bands too though. i was proudly wearing my ramones-style-T?-shirt ;-) and i guess that’s what caught stefan’s (nice guys) eye who happened to be in the same store as well. he’s a really nice guy by the way!

later we headed back to the hostel to get some rest. a few hours later we made our way to the jazzhaus, which is a really nice venue, located near the mainstation of the city so it’s easy to get to. stefan was already there, talking to jan (T?’s booker for germany and also doing merch that night) and we joined them. jan is another really nice guy, he promised to save some free promo-posters for me, which he did! the show started rather early cause there was no support act. that’s maybe why the crowd was a bit shy at the beginning. cheering and clapping was pretty loud from the start, but there was not much pogo or jumping first. well, the audience got a bit older too. but there was some jumping and dancing in the first row and that’s also were we were. stefan and me sneaked at andy’s setlist and it was a great one! my girlfriend was happy too, cause it was her first therapy?-show and she wanted to hear lonely cryin’ only and that was the third song! as always, andy had some funny stories to tell too. the show went by really really fast and the guys had good fun on stage. i made some shitty pics and some videos, the videos turned out quite good! the encores got the crowd really wild, there was a pit with some pogo going on, which was good fun!

both stefan and me got a setlist, i also got a plec (i think one of michael’s) and a drumstick. stefan saved me two posters and when the band came out i got all my stuff signed. neil came out first and we had a little chat. he remembered me after i told him that i gave him a t-shirt in innsbruck last year which he still has. andy and michael came out a bit later and we had a nice little chat with all of them. stefan and me talked to michael about the remix of crooked timber we thought we heard from the PA before the show, but it turned out that it was a no remix but rather a song that influenced crooked timber. he said that they decided to play only stuff that influenced the album-songs before the shows of the whole tour and that we were the first guys to mention this. i guess that jazz-song i also heard before must have been charles mingus then.

we then said our goodbye’s but jan mentioned that they might go to have a few beers at a pub called “eimer” and asked if we wanted to join in. so we went there and half an hour later they all came to the pub too. the crew was there too and mark and john (i think that’s his name?) are both really good guys too. we had a few drinks and really nice chats with them. stefan even talked neil into drinking some absinth with him … hehe. well, then the time came to say our goodbyes, but it was a great evening with a great show, lots of fun, and some new friends! we hope to see stefan again soon, and jan invited us to come to keith caputo’s show in vienna, which he also booked. and of course i also hope to see the three lads and the crew again soon. (well, i will … forestglade festival in july … hehe!)
