stories behind crooked timber …

Started by vagabond

well, what do you think about andy’s stories behind the songs of crooked timber?

i always enjoyed these stories from andy and this time around it’s not different.
as a musician myself i always find it fascinating how diverse the subject of songwriting really is and where the musicians i like get their inspiration from.

I thought it was interesting to see Charles Mingus and John Coltrane get a mention. Giant Steps is a great song and my favourite album of his, so it gave me an excuse to listen to it again. :D

Of course, these stories are always pretty great. Reading them more or less describes what I love about this band.

Love all these stories behind the songs. I could easily waste a few minutes at work reading them. In fact, I just did! :-)

I’m hoping we get a good essay on why the Water Rats shows were awesome whenever the live album comes out.

yeah that’d be cool!
also, it would be really cool if one of the lads would pick up where they ended the biography on the site … it ends 2003 … a lot of stuff happend since then!

I enjoy them as well, and enjoyed this one too. It would be cool if Andy could at some stage get around to doing this for all of the other albums which have so far not been covered.

I know, I always enjoy the stories behind the songs. In that Q&A session thing I asked if they were gonna do the old albums like Nurse and Andy said the cringe factor might be too high. But fingers crossed!

Would be really interested to hear the full version of Magic Mountain of which Andy speaks… would be cool if it was made available from this website at some point!!

I like reading all the stuff on the site but some of it needs updating like the articles and as you say, the biog.
