I still think the performance against Algeria was worse. Certainly, that game was one of the dullest games ever seen.

This is the game of the tournament so far, I’d say. And reinforces my belief that Argentina will win the whole thing.

I’m sure he’ll be looking forward to the big pay off he’ll get - it works out better for an England manager (especially a foreign one who doesn’t care how well England do) to get sacked, as they still get all the money due to them for their contract, but don’t have to do all the work.

You’re talking about Capello, but think about Lippi (Italy’ coach): he got 3 million Euros for this beautiful performance in South Africa. Basically, 1 (crap) match, 1 million!

I heard they renegotiated Capello’s new contract 2 weeks before the World Cup so it’ll cost loads to sack him, which seems pretty dumb (or funny business was going on).

They do this every time though - set-up some huge, multi-million dollar contract for the England manager. Then sack him and have to pay off his contract. Hardly surprising that no one quits the job…

I can’t believe that. Germany really aren’t that good, and Argentina, prior to today, were the best team. The 2nd goal looked offside to me, but they never mentioned it on TV, so I guess not.

You WHAT? Germany really aren’t that good? They just dismantled a great Argentine team, rendered Messi useless, took out Iguain and slipped 4 with ease past them Argies and played some of the football on display in this WC. Yeah you’re right, they ain’t that good :-/

I think last night proved that although Germany are one of the most effective team units out there, they lack the pure class to hold their own against the big boys (I think they only had about 20% of the ball in that game).

They are however still a young team and I think they played the best football I have seen from a German team since 1990.

It all went wrong when they started believing in lucky blue sweaters and a bloody octupus!

Gonna be a good game for a chance I think , and pretty much 50-50 stuff.

Didn’t know either if I would have prefered Germany in the final or not. While for every Dutchie a win against the old foe is special , a loss would have been dramatic and given another national frustration for the next gazillion years.
Going to enjoy it anyway , win or loose.

Well, the one thing that I really like is that the Dutch are playing as a team instead of single milioniar islands, they are also fighting very hard and believe that they can take this thing, it’s not the usual stuff. Agreed: Not the best football, but hey…we are in the final:-) . I think it’s 50/50 too but I hope it’s gonna be a good match…all credits to Spain as well, quite bizarre and impressive how they manished to shake off that tournament ghost which always got hold of them when things got tense in 2008 up to now. If the Dutch win we’ll have a crazy Sunday night, already took the day of on Monday!

@ Ronald : You’re right about we are all surprised by that final result but definatly Spain has a higher football technical level than Holland. Nevertheless Dutch could play more rude but not so much sure. Whatever I still bet on Spain.
The better one win.

The only bets I still have a chance of winning are:

A tenner on Villa to be top scorer @ 9/1
A fiver on Spain to win and Villa to be top scorer @ 20/1

So I’ll be hoping Villa scores at least one to overtake Schneider!

The 3rd place game was the best game of the cup - one of very few good ones, really. The final, sadly, has been shit. Too many fouls, and a lot of diving around pretending to be injured, which has plagued the whole tournament. Worst World Cup ever? Probably. Give the trophy to Uruguay, at least they played well with minimal cheating :-)
