All gone…!

I’ve lost every Fucking record I’ve ever had!
The story goes.. used to live in a pub, up until about a year ago. When I left I left a few boxes there until we go settled in the new place, eventually we managed to get everything in the house. Today I went to set up my stereo and move the records down stairs. I go to the last of the boxes which up until I had pressumed contained th records… Nothing! I’ve lost every fucking record, mix tape, everything. I still have my CD’s, but I spent many many years collecting and hunting down these things. The pub has now been refurbed and changed hands, and everything that was left was binned. I’ve lost a lot of really important records. Maybe not a big deal to most people, but I really really put my heart and soul into getting and keeping some of these. Some early DJ Shadow, some rare motown and Rolling Stones. Some Stooges, and Dead kenedys. Rare records that inducted me into the metal scene - double Megadeth first album anyone?

The thing that hurts the most is that I had a complete Therapy? collection. I spent so much time building this up and collecting. Waiting for autographs or hoping certain versions would appear on the net. I CAN’T TELL YOU HOW HAPPY I WAS WHEN i GOT MY HANDS ON MEAT ABSTRACT!

If any of you guys have double copies or anything you think I’d need to get again, please please get in touch. The ones that mean the most are obviously Meat Abstract, Troublegum green vinyl, Infernal love , Babyteeth and Pleasure Death on original pressings.

Also if anyone has a copy of The Dead Kennedys Fresh Fruit for Rotten Vegetables on the Cherry Red label let me know.

Please help.

Really sorry to hear this, would be gutted if this happened to my vinyl collection. I do quite a lot of sifting through 2nd hand shops records, if i find anything i already have then i’ll let you know. If you’re in london i’d try checking out SisterRays etc down Berwick street as thats where i found lots of T? stuff (allbeit 10 yrs ago)
Good Luck, hope it goes well.

I don’t get vinyls, but I collect CDs and have some pretty rare ones which I’m very protective about, so I can feel your pain. I hope you can recover most of them, good luck.

I’m sorry to hear this, my Therapy? collection was the first thing I moved to our new house, since I was terrified something would get lost.
I’ve got some spares, like the Infernal Love LP and Loose 7” but the outer sleeves aren’t in the best condition, I also got a spare Stories 7” which is in good condition if I remember correctly, if you want pictures, let me know.

And if you live close to London, we visited some Music & Video Exchanges last week, one had a first press Pleasure Death LP, and another one had a Babyteeth re-issue on red vinyl. I can’t remember in which Music & Video Exchanges that was exactly, but I can figure out which ones we visited.

Huge sympathies Chris, I’d be distraught. Good luck on your quest, I’ll keep an eye out round the local record shops.

That’s very pants and I hope you manage to get everything again. :(

Would it be wise sourcing a charity shop close to where you used to live?
Sounds daft and I know you said it all got binned but I only say it because I found an entire Dogs D’Amour collection in my local Oxfam a few years ago and thought that was mighty strange!
Shot in the dark but it might be worth your while (or was it too long ago now?)

I don’t tend to ‘collect’ stuff as I’m pretty skint so am no use but I really feel your pain and hope you manage to track down everything…

I tallied up a few records on ebay last night - about 25 or so… it’s not going to be cheap. I really need Meat Abstract and Babyteeth again. Those records meant so much to me. I’m not bothered about the stuff by other bands( i had some real nice beastie boys, Four Tops, tamla, Dj Shadow, Stooges, Metallica)

I wonder what you mean by “the right amount”, as it’s the black one that’s is rare and the green one can be found easily for about £10

I found a copy of the black one in a shop in london but it was out of my price range.

Lesson learned , dude , never leave your valuable records behind. Treat them as your babies.

My apartment in Dublin was broken into some years ago while I was on holiday , fortunately the burglars were only interested in CDs of pretty recent pop acts and the records with all the metal and obscure stuff were left behind.
