Tom: There is very little chance of them saying ”no more tickets left” s they will pack the trains full to bursting point if they have to (money money money is what they think of i’m afraid). They don’t have a set amount of tickets per train and will just sell you them and tell you to stand, squashed like sardines in a tin if necessary, if you can’t get a seat. Having said that it’s only 35 -45 minutes to stevenage from Kings X depending on which train you get so not too long to stand up, it’s the mainline from London up the east coast to Edinburgh so lots of trains.
I would however check what time the last trains INTO london are as they are tend to stop before the trains going out of london and to get from the festival site to the station will take a little bit of time.
Can you not pay by cc and use the card to pick up the tickets at the station?

Another thing is to check which tickets you have, intercity (the faster ones) trains go direct from Kings X to Stevenage but i’m not sure if standard tickets are valid on them? Probably are but best to check, also if you buy advance tickets for a specific train they will only be valid on that train at that time.
Good luck, you should be fine as there are between 2 and 4 standard trains an hour normally and maybe more due to the festival (but i doubt it).

Tom: Last train on the Friday will be 23:59 from Stevenage, Saturday will be 23:49 from Stevenage and Sunday is 23:55 or 00:03 (not sure about timetable) from Stevenage. These times mean that you will be pushing it to get to the station in time, assuming the last band finishes just after 23:00 and you leave straight away then you should make it. How many of you are there? and have you already booked your hotel?
Timetables (PDF) are here

Thanks for the infos again, we are aware the of the rather early last trains. We’ll stay in london for a whole week and booked our hotel in february allready. It didn’t strike us until last weekend that trains might not be running through the whole night and that it would a good idea to check for a hotel in or around stevenage. That was futile of course, because there’s not even one hotel room to be found for 3 people anymore close to the festival.
So here’s the plan: We’ll try to catch the 23:59 on friday, for saturday and sunday we figured we’ll hop on the first train around 4:00 back to london, get a couple hours of sleep, have brunch and head back to to festival site around 13:00 to 14:00 each day. We’ll miss the early bands though, but the ones we’d like to see will most likely all on after 16:00 judging from the sonisphere poster compared to the actual stage times from last year.
Will you be there too? If so, care for a real pint?

Might be, have to see about money next month but if i do then yes i’m up for a beer. Basically i live 1 stop up the train line from stevenage, if there are only 3 of you and should you miss the train and not want to hang around stevenage or it’s pissing it down then as a last resort you should still be able to get a train to my stop and could crash on the floor / tent in garden.
Hopefully you won’t need to but thought i’d offer.

Seeing all the discussions about stage times, thought it prudent to point out - Last year Thunder and The Wildhearts didn’t come on until after the mainstage headliners had finished. Wildhearts set started at midnight! But, it would seem T? have been bumped down to 3rd place so will either be on before Rammstein or clash with them.
If anyone does buy a Sonisphere ticket then please quote the FMC code 1k933376 when booking. I could bag some freebies and you’ll be granted access to the exclusive FMC party on the Friday of the festival :)
Cheers m’dears!

Mister Hoppy, you are a real gent, good sir! I hope we will not have to accept your offer though :-) But just in case we should swap phone numbers a couple of days prior to the festival.
Still I hope you can come to the festival, as it’s not so far away from you as it is for us :-)
Now, fingers crossed for the english boys to beat the krauts :-)

So any news from the band as to when they’ll be on stage? I know they originally said 22.00 but has this changed since Corey Taylor got added to the bill??
Cheers to anyone who may have used my FMC code when booking Sonisphere tickets, my code is now maxed out. My mate (who’s having his stag do at the festival) would like his FMC code used.
Please quote FMC code: 1k910034 when booking.

Tom: I hope to be up between those hours on both nights and should have a campsite to chill at or alternatively am happy to amble around so let me know if you want to exchange numbers.

We have our festival tickets booked and are staying in london, which means we’re traveling from london to stevenage every day by train. I’ve spent the whole afternoon checking tickets and connections. BUT when I tried do book the tickets a problem arose: I can’t buy online tickets to print for myself, I’m only given the option of postal delivery, which works only in the uk.
So the question is: Is it even necessary to book the train tickets in advance or can we just go to a ticket office at kings cross an purchase our tickets there or might there be a problem with overcrowded trains? the worst case scenario would be the ticket guy telling us that there are no tickets left. From your experience: Is it even possible that trains are so fully booked that we can’t get on the train? every help is much appreciated.
Without reading any other posts:
have a look at http://www.thetrainline.com - I use it (you need to book specific trains) and you can pick them up at the self-service machines in the station (well, from my experience anyway). You can pick up some tickets for dirt cheap too.
I hope that helps :)
