It was back to Lokeren for me, a festival I regularly visit and had already been to the day before Therapy? performed to see Alice Cooper and the other metal bands perform on the Metal Day of the Lokerse Feesten. Last time they played at Lokeren was my first time seeing them and I remember a very great set with songs from Never Apologise Never Explain and One Cure Fits All (which worked surprisingly well live) I haven’t heard at other Therapy? gigs yet. A fully played out (I think) Rust with Andy standing close to the crowd with the lights shining on his face from below as he was giving it his all with his guitar is the image I remember best from that day (it was a pretty cool sight).

Yesterday wasn’t as great, but still well worth it.

It was a fun gig despite the rain, and the ‘fuck the rain!’ moment and Andy’s (more or less, probably) improvised ‘singing in the rain’ in reaction to it made even that worth it. After seeing The Mötley Crüe with all their fireworks and strange looks (not that I didn’t like their performance, though), I was again reminded of one of the many reasons I like Therapy?. They’re just guys who are pretty much themselves on stage and don’t try to be anything like stars, which is cool.

I liked the set, too, it was my first time hearing Epilepsy and Stop It You’re Killing Me live. I’m not completely sure if I remember correctly but I thought they also played Unbeliever, another track from Troublegum they don’t regularly (at least, based on the 11 or so shows I’ve been to) play, and I liked it very much. The boys didn’t let themselves be discouraged by the numerous Mötley Crüe fans who seemed pretty disinterested at the start.

The only small letdown was we couldn’t find Diamond Dave anywhere, Therapy? didn’t even have a merchandise stall of their own. At one point one side of the small merchandise tent had a few Therapy? shirts on it, but that was it, and no sign of Dave. Either it was limited this time around or I must have seriously overlooked something.

Next stop, Pink Pop Classic! Will be my first time seeing them outside Belgium, I just hope the Dutch don’t throw as much beer around as I’ve heard!

Dave wasn’t there - festivals tend to have their own staff at the merch stalls, and limited space for the stock of each band.

That’s correct, they played Unbeliever, I was very happy to hear Stop It You’re Killing Me again.
here’s the complete setlist:

Knives
Screamager
Epilepsy
Stories
Enjoy The Struggle
Isolation
Teethgrinder
Crooked Timber
Die Laughing
Unbeliever
Exiles
Rust
Potato Junkie
Stop It You’re Killing Me
Diane
Nowhere

I’d love to hear Lunacy Booth at the end of the set again… Pink Pop Classic maybe?

Great gig overall, even though I was stuck behind some Motley Crue fans who seemed to have been savagely attacked by a mob of disgruntled hairdressers armed with hair dye and blow dryers.

Don’t think that will happen either, I’m afraid that’s one of those songs they’ll never play again… apart from that HMV gig.

totally agreed. the other songs of CT sounded really awesome as well. Really hope Crooked timber won’t fall of the setlist, like so many other great songs of their “latter era”

unfortunatelly i had to control myself for not going to wild…especially with rust…damn that was hard for me…

but thumbs up for t?

p.s. An, well…you definenatly didn’t see us…and jan can it be, that you didn’t recognized who was saying hello to you guys, when you entered the bus?

I didn’t see you indeed. Jan told me I just walked past the two of you… but when we got of the bus the two of you were nowhere to be seen anymore… I thought he might have dreamt it. :)

Judging by the hair, I thought it was a Motley Crue fan saying hello to me.

I jest. I did recognise you, but saying hello and maintaining eyecontact whilst trying not to fall down the stairs I was climbing proved harder than I thought it would be. Damn my inner ear!

ha, no. you’re mixing me up, with that woman with that huge and fascinating “the-80ies-are-back-front-wave” sitting close to us…it was like an accident: you couldn’t look it, but also couldn’t look away from it…the ozon-layer was greeting…

and we thought you were confused by the sudden greeting, didn’t recognize us and just answered, without knowing to who you are answering…or s.th like this…

Again, great gig but it would have been more memorable indeed if the weather was just a tad better. I remember seeing them at The Lokerse Feesten in 2002 and it rained cats and dogs as well but that gig was still a bit better than this one because it was already dark when they played. After opening with Knives and Screamager I got my hopes up (too high) that they were going to repeat the Sonisphere setlist but then Epilepsy started and suddenly my both feet were back on the ground. Nevertheless it was a whole lot better than their Muziekodroom show. It was well worth the drive all the way from Halen.

:-o Did you think so? It didn’t even come close IMO… but still a very nice gig.
I would love to witness a Troublegum show as well, but seems like we’re not getting one… first Sonishere, close to London, and in November again… in London :-(

I liked the gig a lot, it’s always a bit strange to be the first band to play but I think they did a really good job.

Was great to hear Epilepsy, Unbeliever and Stop It… especially liked Neil’s drumming on Epilepsy.

Loksbergen actually but I don’t really like saying I live there after what happened there at the start of 2010 if you know what I mean.

Well, it could’ve been just me because I wasn’t really in a very happy period of my life back then because of losing my job due to my employer going bankrupt and such. That and I was just at the back of the huge moshpit and since I was too poorly to join everyone kept bumping into me so that kind of was distracting at times LOL
