Therapy? Facebook Page

Started by BruceBruce

How come it never gets updated?

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Therapy/51927026440

or am I looking at an unofficial page? The MySpace page looks up to date but MySpace seems pretty dead to me these days, saw a quote from Ginger the other week…

Writing updates on myspace feels a bit like sending messages out to space, hoping someone will see it.

That’s unofficial, the official one was taken down a while back. Do people like having bands on Facebook? It seems to me very much more geared towards individuals (as opposed to Myspace, which is great for music).

Ah I thought it might be unofficial, Facebook has got a music player now and you can add videos, photos and post events for the concerts, I like it for bands as I log onto Facebook every day I can see the updates from bands in my activity stream … most bands seem to have one, Iron Maiden started one a couple of months ago. If you look at say the Wildhearts they posted the same update on their Facebook and MySpace about the Ginger birthday bash, the Facebook update got 15 comments, the MySpace got 1.

Well, I am on Facebook more often than myspace - I think it would make sense to have the page just as up to date as the myspace one.

Yeah - I wouldn’t check a myspace page, but all the news updates are automatically added to your feed with fb.

I too have been on the unofficial T? site but don’t bother any more.
Lots of bands use fb to update everyone on gigs etc.

I don’t have a facebook account and I don’t want a facebook account either. I just hope I will not be forced to get one sooner or later, I just hate all that crap!
It’s a pity soo many people communicate through facebook only lately, post pictures of me and stuff that interests me on their facebook account and send me links to it (which I can’t open since I don’ t have an account) VERY frustrating :-(
I just hope Therapy? won’t fall for a facebook account again, as that might stand in the way of their website and this lovely place :-(

I agree an… Fuck facebook. Don’t want/need it. I hate the way everybody seems to be a slave to it now. I opened an account a while back then shut it down very soon after. i think Myspace is a much better place to be now that all the superficial people have gone to bebo or fb. :)

The advantage of facebook is it pulls in the feeds from all the bands you like into one place, rather than routinely having to check 100’s of different mySpace pages.

As a social tool - its a bit shit to be honest.

I find Facebook good to keep up to date with people who live abroad or I don’t get to see much anymore. Some people are bit too addictive and I can’t stand that Farmville crap.

At the end of the day, whether you like it or not, it would be a good Marketing tool for the band and shouldn’t go unused in my opinion + it doesn’t cost the band anything!

I agree with Karl I think it’s a good way of seeing how people are who I wouldn’t contact too often, it’s not that i don’t like them anymore but i’ve got a full time job and two kids and don’t have as much time as i’d like to to keep up to date with my friends, i think that it’s sadder to loose contact with people completely, plus I get loads of info about stuff that i’m interested in and can quite easily block all the crap. I don’t see what the big deal is and can’t understand why some people will never use facebook and are so dead against it

Not on facebook either , never been and never will.
Don’t mind people on it , each to their own , in fact the missus is on it quite a bit and can be find harvesting her farmville crops at all hours.
But I spend hours behind my laptop for my work each day so in my spare time I rather play with mini-Cuch or do something nice outdoors.

There seems to be this weird conception that people who are not on facebook don’t have a social life.
But instead of sending them a message on fb I would rather invite my mates to the pub , football ground or to the gaff for a beer and a chat.
For family and friends abroad there is always the phone. It’s that personal touch that you just don’t have with facebook.

I do find it useful for some band updates. Megadeth and They Might Be Giants both update quite frequently with useful information about upcoming shows, recent interviews/reviews, stuff like that.

It would be handy for Therapy? if only because it’s quite difficult to find good recent articles/interviews.

Therapyquestionmark is a good site and still stand strong with fans and unique band blog that examine their work retrospective. İn the other hand, lot of site which made up at end of 90s are lost in space now. So, bands using social media to support their work is quite understandable. Problem is Facebook is semi-open world for fans, If you don’t have an acount you can’t listen majority of steams and sadly lot of promotion needs an account (Twitter is an evil twin righ now!) and If you have an account, It’s a white noise at it’s best. About Myspace? I don’t know, It is ok I guess. Concentrate more music than making 2D friends; I’ve even met the Therapy? by their help and checking new bands are way much easy.

Well, all I can say is that nobody is forced to have a Facebook account, so if you don’t want one, don’t sign up. I will definitely admit that there are plenty of people I know who overdo the whole Facebook thing. Sure, it is always better to meet people face to face or to call them, but time is usually the major issue with me. On Facebook I see when they upload pictures of their Kids etc. and it makes it easier for a lazy bollocks like me to stay in touch with them (especially if they live abroad).

Bad Astronaut is right in most of his comments, all I would however say is that there is no harm in having an up to date Facebook page - it is almost the same as most bands not wanting to have websites back in the day, look how things have changed!

Having the account is free and puts the band out there.

Nobody is really forced to join FB that´s for sure but I must admit that´s a good channel to keep in touch with folks aboard and get the news from several sources (friends, bands, long lost realtives:D…).and share photos!!!!! What I hate baout that place is the damn games there and people telling about things like going to toilet, how drunk they are, how much they hate this and that…too much stupid updating!!
And Andy has got his own “unofficial” page there too, dont forget that!
FB is here, what is next…? Myspace, I´m there too but not as often as I´m on FFB.

Oh well, but if it’s a tribute it’s probably ok. I thought it was something like Fat Mike on twitter, someone pretending to be Fat Mike and made him look like a complete asshole which forced Fat Mike to start twittering himself…
