Are you sure you’re not getting mixed up with Suicide Pact? There’s an extra track on the end of that called Whilst I Pursue My Way Unharmed.

Erm, it plays every time for me! If you play track 11 (Sister) and skip ahead to about 16mins, it’s right there. Normally I forget it’s there and it scares me witless.

I don’t know how I know the name of it, we’re going back over ten years here! There’s a couple of references to it in reviews though, here and here And if you search the message boards, it gets plenty of mentions :)

Well it was “Whilst I Pursue My Way Unharmed” or “Whoops-a-daisy!”

To me they’re the two stand out lines of that. Scared the shit out of me first time I heard it, I was doing some homework (oh god, feeling old now) hadn’t noticed the album had finished then the track started :S

Kinda don’t think just leaving a big space at the end of an album is a terribly good way of hiding tracks - the two hidden tracks on Ash’s 1977 were much better hidden.

Wonder if you could play ‘As I pursue my way unharmed’ live… On that note, I wish they’d play ‘Never Ending’ live too

I never liked the idea of hidden tracks anyway. As you say, they aren’t really hidden, and then you have to fast-forward every time to listen to them. I’m glad that idea pretty much seems to have died out since the 90s.

Yeah, I don’t see the point in those either. To be honest, I never bother looking for them - I figure it it’s anything worthwhile it will be more easily accessed and listed as a special feature anyway.

i’m glad somebody brought this up - i have numerous mp3 players now (due to screen smashes, one for jogging etc) and i tend to leave “sister” and other tracks containing hidden tracks, eg “mx” from deftones “around the fur” and the last track on “nevermind” (or is it “in utero”, or both?!? - now I’M having a crazy horse (steve) moment!!!) off my mp3 players as i can’t be arsed with the big long gap. a real shame as “sister” is my favourite track on this album, with “WIPMWU”

am sure there is some software that you can split the tracks with, so that you end up on your mp3 player with, using SP:YF as an example, a 12 track album with “sister” as track 11 and “WIPMWU” as track 12 and NO BIG GAP BETWEEN THEM!!! - the only downside being i won’t get a turtle head poking out anymore when “WIPMWU” comes on when i am drifting off to sleep after sister. or maybe that’s a good point. anyway, i don’t know what software to use. it would preferably be easy (ie dead simple) and free to use.

any advice?

and on Citizen Erased’s note, is there any way you can mp3 those 2 hidden tracks before “loose control” on ash’s 1977?

cheeers in advance

a bit technichal for me ,sometimes i still use old fashined casette tapes ,that definatly works ,but i do agree with your comment on SISTER ,its an absolute scorcher of a track ,and if was being tortured and made to cough up my three most fave T? tracks ,i think SISTER would be in there somwhere

I still use use Mp3Cutter 4. http://home.hccnet.nl/p.luijer/ . I don’t think the interface is as easy as it could be, but the descriptions at the page should help you should you have problems figuring out where to drag files into and such.

I’ve done the exact same thing as you richboy, regarding leaving final tracks with hidden songs off my ipod. However, for SP-YF, I have put the Japanese release of the album on my ipod, and that has ‘Sister’ as a stand-alone track (about 5:15 or so). ‘WIPMWU’ is tagged on at the end of the second bonus live track.

I always separate hidden tracks and remove the silence when I MP3 my albums. I use MP3 Direct Cut http://mpesch3.de1.cc/mp3dc.html - it’s really good and doesn’t doing any converting to the file, so you don’t lose any quality.

I just use Audacity, same software i use to convert vinyl to Mp3 / Wav etc. Load mp3 file, cut out what you want, save file and there you go.
