This is the sort of question that could have me thinking all day. Because there are songs which are amazing, which I would never fast forward if they came on, but that could just be due to me being into the band at the time, whereas there are other songs which are timeless but maybe I’ve heard so much that I’m getting a little bored of them. Stuff by Maiden, for example.

I should have read the back of the CD properly. It’s Syeeda’s Song Flute, Naima’s another song altogether. Durr.

Too true. And when you get to my age you will be stuffed. The best of so many decades of amazing stuff and more and more eclectic stuff. I love so much music the best song in the world changes every day. I guess I’d heve to go with something that’s always in the top 10, meaning it’s either ‘Kiss The Bottle’ by Jawbreaker or ‘Willow’ by Joan Armatrading - both of them rip my heart strings to pieces every time. I guess I like songs that make me want to cry. Each to their own, eh? :)

I like the tear inducing songs a lot too.

She is so Beautiful by Mike Scott for example.

there’s no such thing as the “best song in the world”, its impossible to judge, there’s too many different styles of music in the world with different sounds that are impossible to compare in a critical way.

My favourite song used to be In The End when I didn’t know too much music yet. Now that I know a lot more music its very hard to say, but the first that come to mind are A Moment Of Clarity, Dancin’ With Manson and Hallowed Be Thy Name. Of course I’m biased : )

Child In Time, Sultans Of Swing and Californication are amongst the best of the generally accepted worldwide classics for me, but this is something you can’t think about for too long ; )

Can’t be done. For example there have been times when I ve not liked a song and then something happens to me in life and that song sums up exactly how i feel and i go on to like it. Right now at this second though I would say Gardens Tale by Volbeat because it reminds me of my recent holiday to Majorca. Tomorrow it will probably one of my songs which im recording the harmonies for at the mo.
