Not really, because what I made a joke about (and in a jokey manner, rather than just bluntly violent), isn’t a big problem in the world and it doesn’t cause huge suffering and death.

I was just trying to be subtle in reminding you that of the 30 pages of sick child abuse jokes that were deleted you were a contributor to those pages. No, wouldn’t be ok. But I think joking about shooting black people and running over cats are on different sides of ‘the line’.
Whilst driving, I’ve accidently run over a cat or two in my time… the police don’t exactly consider them hit and runs, it’s not up there with shooting somebody. Same with jokes - some are considered more offensive than others.

That was kinda my point with my first post here… you berating the cat joke is no different really than that person having a go at you for your upskirts thing. That person was highly offended by a perceived misogyny on your behalf, much like you were offended by perceived animal cruelty on Jobrok’s side. I’m sure both you and Jobrok are not like that in reality.

There was a “drive by” shooting in my street in the early hours of Sunday morning, but can’t find anything in the news about it. No one got hurt. Think it was just 1 shot fired at a window. Someone was saying it’sa bit of retaliation to do with the other story i posted about the guy getting attacked and getting his dick cut off.

The bad taste thread was deleted but the majority of the jokes, 600 posts, were in Gracious Me. The bad taste thread was created because of the deletion of the posts in Gracious Me. When those pages were deleted you decided that I was trying to censor everyone on the WoM and made a point of going on about it for ages, and trying to bring up the subject of censorship at every opportunity. I certainly can’t be arsed to go and find all the posts and I’m now bored of the conversation. If you can’t remember what happened then you’ll have to live with it or look for them yourself. You’ll find them from August 2005 for several months. I’ve already given you the link to one of them but there were plenty, I assure you.

No, you didn’t just poke “a bit of fun” at me, you accused me of being a hypocrite who made jokes about child abuse. When I confronted you about this offensive accusation and told you it was totally untrue, you tried to change your argument by instead accusing me of giving you a “fucking hard time about getting it (the child abuse thread) deleted”, another false accusation which you again totally failed to back up. And all this even though you agree with my orginal argument. Lame, and shameful.

It doesn’t invalidate my premise and your argument is a clear attempt “to link the validity of a premise to a characteristic or belief of the person advocating the premise”, therefore it is indeed a “tu quoque” logical fallacy. Even if in the past I have joined in with offensive jokes, I haven’t made offensive, unfunny, violent statements and a week later expressed outrage over the same crimes. Your hypothetical “Gav” scenario is irrelevant.

I do not do and have not done what I believe to be wrong (despite your attempts to smear me by making false accusations), so you cannot legitimately accuse me of being a hypocrite.

You, on the other hand, *have* displayed hypocrisy and inconsistency. You freely admit to demanding the censoring of “jokes” *you* find offensive, but when someone else legitimately criticises another for making an analogously offensive “joke”, you attack the person making the criticism rather than the object of their criticism.

Sam - you’re just rambling crap now. You keep accusing me of attacking you, which I haven’t been I have just reasonably countered your wildly and weirdly defensive statements. You were the one who brought up the child abuse jokes thing in the first place, I really couldn’t in my wildest dreams imagine being bored enough to think up ways to “smear” you and if you can’t even see the relevance of the Gav statement then you have deliberately or otherwise completely failed to grasp the only thing I could be accused of arguing with you about so there’s no point speaking about it any more.
