I must say that I’m impressed that the show is already sold out, 6 weeks before the actual date.
Especially since now they are playing the big venue and not the smaller Box club like last time.

Great news !

So how many is the whole venue? I thought the box was 800. They could still open the upper floors for more room then, right?

The guys are making smart decisions with their Troublegum live show and excellent choice of tracks for their live album lately, working on a new album with a promising title, and what’s with them looking for more guys to send their demos to also? Ambition? One can dream… : )

Someone told me once it was 3000, which seemed a bit much to me. I was there when the venue was open at a White Lies concert but didn’t really have a good overview of how many people there were.

Yeah, but the thing that puzzles me is that it says 2000 “standing places” so does this include the standing places on the balcony and the seats as well then?

2000 is the venue capacity, when they don’t have to place their seats (on the goundfloor)

I’m looking for an extra ticket, if there’s a kind soul with a spare one :D I waited till I got enough money, but then it got sold out. Would be the first time in quite a while (10 years?) that I don’t see them playing Brussels.

The song on their myspace doesn’t sound too bad - pretty adequate rock music, though I hope the ‘radio-friendly mostly chorus based stuff that is typical for singles’ as I’ve come to call it can’t be found on all of their songs. First impression is that they want to force a ‘bad-boy attitude’ too much, but they could be well-meaning, we’ll see (or we won’t, dunno for sure yet if this IS the support band).

Had some good fun. My respect for Andy Cairns just grew even more. He’s actually a better guitarist than I ever realized, probably didn’t think about it or didn’t pay enough attention to it yet, but he really is. Just not the kind of solo-guitarist. It’s hard to imagine he can come up with all those dark lyrics and sounds when you see him enjoying himself that much on stage. I’ll see if I can post up pictures of the Gemil with the 20 on his back I gave to the band tomorrow.

my first T? gig since the High Anxiety days. The bands and audience were 110% in it, Mikehell was jumping around like a 7 year old on a sugar rush. Andy was his usual self, always encouraging the audience (maybe a bit too much?) and I still think Neil Cooper is the best drummer T? ever had. Picked up the live album for 15€.

Here’s the setlist :

Troublegum (with Nowhere Man intro to Nowhere + Loose inside Isolation
(a very long pause)
Meat Abstract
Nausea
Fantasy Bag
Rust
Exiles
Opal Mantra
Epilepsy
Stories
Teethgrinder

there was also a bit of Gloria, but can’t remember when it was played. I had to leave right after Teethgrinder, but as the AB had a 10.30pm hard curfew I guess they couldn’t play anymore songs. With a shorter break they could have fit one more song, I guess.

Overall it was really good, but I kinda missed “later” songs. Only two post-Infernal Love songs, which is a shame, but then again, they have such a large back catalogue + 20th anniversary. Sister or DLAMF like in other recent shows would have been nice.
