Youtube footage has surfaced showing mounted police charging protesters at the london demo, something the met had denied, not a surprise but when they eventually kill some 15 year old kid or someone not even involved in the protest I’m sure we’ll get the same as we got with Ian Tomlinson - no charges.

Well on Friday a group of us went up to Burnley to protest against the rise in tuition fees outside Gordon Bertwistle’s office, Lib Dem Burnley MP

I was unfortunate enough to speak to BBC Radio Lancashire about the issue, thankfully one of the other boys spoke a lot more! Can listen to the report here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p00c898d/Brett_Davison_26_11_2010/ at around one hour in (UK based folkes only).
Turnout was around 50, police had an… excuberant police presence, but all were very sound when they realised we were completely peaceful. Bertwistle promised our SU president earlier in the day (on radio Lancashire) that he would agree to speak to us outside his surgery, and we eagerly awaited his appearance and we were hoping to ask some questions. However, he walked right by us, and once he crossed the road, smiled and waved at us.

university students from both Preston and Burnley campus attended, as did other students at school or college who will be directly affected with the withdrawl of EMA and the rise in tuition fees.

What’s the chances this Right to Recall legislature will be forgotten about too? Scummy Fib Dems!

Just reading stuff on Asia Pulp & Paper deforesting Indonesia and now they’ve got Patrick Moore to do the PR for them, he was a founding member of Greenpeace who makes Vince Cable look like a man who’s word is his bond, he has claimed that clear-cut logging is making clearings where new trees can grow in the sun and defended sodium cyanide spills at gold mines as cyanide is present in the environment and naturally available in many plant species!
To give some idea of how dodgy APP are Tesco has dropped them on ETHICAL grounds, this is Tesco of all companies, not exactly given to ethical considerations when there is money to be made.

Turns out the FSA report into what happened with RBS and why it had to be bailed out will not be made public. Now given that the public is the majority shareholder we have a right to know, but instead are told to pay our money but be kept in the dark, no sanctions or blame with anybody, a complete whitewash. I would like to know why an insolvent bank was bailed out and part of that money used to pay bonuses of the people responsible for the insolvency! Cnuts the lot of em.

Train cancelled for tomorrow, my ticket is valid for any trains they can run for 2 hours either side of the departure time, nothing north of Edinburgh it says on site but no word on Ed - Glasgow trains! Guess I’ll turn up tomorrow and see what happens. Probably end up stuck in Leeds or Newcastle knowing my luck. Weather not anybody’s fault but it’s a ballache.

Nightmare!!! Hopefully you’ll still make it, but it is pretty bad up here. The main Glasgow Queen St to Edinburgh line has been up and down all week, but the East Coast trains use a different line that goes through Motherwell. Don’t know if that’s any better or not though.

Might be ok, 7.25 from stevenage is supposed to get in to Edinburgh at 13.10ish (revised times accounting for the weather but we’ll see…), then 13.15 if I’m lucky but more likely 13.45 to glasgow queen st. Then not likely to make the 14.15 glasgow central to ardrossan so it’s then the 16.50 to ardrossan and 6pm ferry. All that seems to be running at the moment and these are the times given for tomorrow but can’t find out if the buses are running on arran and if I get held up (probably leeds - northumberland seems to be where the problems are) then it could all go wrong. Probably have to go for it and hope for the best, but the fact that i’m banking it all on the last train glas to ardrossan s worrying.

Well I never made it, had to make a decision at about 6.45am and at that point Scotrail were cancelling all the services I needed so decided to leave it. At 9.30am they started reinstating these services. Pissed off but that’s the way it is, might try and get a flight sunday. Instead i’ve been reading a cable detailing a conversation between the UK and the US over Diego Garcia, the UK government(s) behaviour is disgraceful, as it always has been, toward the former inhabitants of these islands. I hope the islanders are given their right to return when a judgement is made at the European court of Human Rights shortly.

The guy’s a disgrace. As is his party.

Hops, I’ve been reading bits and bobs of the wikileak cables too, some very interresting stuff said in there. I’ve taken particular interest in Mervyn King’s comments about Cameron and Osbourne only caring about their party
“tendency to think about issues only in terms of politics and how they might affect Tory electorability” (Source: BBC News online)

I would of thought that Gav’s first statement is more worrying, the fact that nearly everyone views MPs as acting in their own interest and yet people do nothing and still vote for them!
I haven’t read a lot of the wikileaks stuff as most of it will not be any surprise, been finding out more about DNS and the UK Uncut movement (getting most of the £25 or so billion estimated to be lost each year in corporate tax avoidance would take nearly a third from the cuts).
