The gig i downloaded is pretty awesome from everyone besides kirk.
Memory and One are almost S&M quality performances.
LOL @ “everyone besides Kirk”
Someone on another forum I go on posted a list of 100 best guitarists and they had Kirk above Dimebag and Angus Young and Slash and various other clearly-loads-better axemen, I had to laugh.
Still, I shall buy that France-only DVD I imagine - despite the obvious weaknesses I still find myself coming back to Metallica year after year. Maybe it’s the quality of the songs of maybe it’s just that, even now, Hetfield is a compelling frontman.

i’m hoping for a DVD of Copenhagen, which compiles all the best performances of all 5 nights into one 2 hour concert.
The fact that they are still so popular after quite so many fan - angering mis - steps is ludicrous. most bands in their position would have ended years ago.
The new album sounds a lot better live i must say.

yeah i was very impressed with the new stuff live. The old stuff was sloppy in comparison. One, for example, was fucking poor. The Prince was fabulous though. As was ride the lightning.

The gig sounds pretty cool… i pissed myself through Dyers Eve, Kirk and Lars can barely play the song and James seems to be struggling with the lyrics. Its the one song i would love to see live but i do hope that if i do they would have practiced it a bit by then.

I’m not saying lars hasn’t improved, it was just that they seem to want to play this song but do have troubles doing it… lars wasn’t really doing double kick on the verses which given he has been playing for two hours.. kirk plain fucked up the solo and James voice was fine he just mumbled the words like i do when forced to sing a hymn or something.
Apart from that its cool… bit of a varied set, glad they lean on the new stuff more.

:-/ HOW can he not play ? Arent you suppsed to get better over time ? not worse ? He can’t play a single solo in time unless its a really slow one like the beginning of Fade. Anything fast and it’s sloppy as shit.

I’d like to think that if I had been playing live regularly for 25+ years, I’d have tightened up my chops by now.
I really think Kirk just doesn’t have that inate natural musical ear and talent that you have to have. Of course none of us are born playing blistering solos, but some people could practice for ever and a day and still not get there, cos they just don’t have that magic ingredient, whereas some people are just naturally musical.

I just downloaded the Knewbworth gig. Dyers Eve is WAY better. James absolutely nails the vocals. !!
Even Kirk’s solo is vastly improved. Lars does a good job too..
James even does this scream in Stone Cold Crazy that made me go ” fuckin hell ! ” :o
His voice is a lot better than recent times. I wonder what he’s doing different..
